About

“TRULY ENCHANTING! THESE ARE THE WOODS THAT YOU WANT TO GET LOST IN, A PLACE YOU’LL FIND BURIED TREASURES THAT YOU DIDN’T EVEN KNOW EXISTED.” – Ben Brantley, The New York Times

Venture back INTO THE WOODS with the acclaimed Fiasco Theater production that the Associated Press called “ingenious and bewitching.” Unanimously praised and extended twice at Roundabout’s Laura Pels Theater, the Tony Award®-winning musical classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine has been mounted with boundless imagination. This witty and wildly theatrical re-invention, produced by the Dodgers (Jersey BoysMatilda) and NETworks Presentations (The Phantom of the OperaWar HorseSouth Pacific), is INTO THE WOODS as you’ve never seen it before!

Including dazzling songs like “Children Will Listen” and “No One Is Alone,” this thrillingly clever new version made Ben Brantley of The New York Times fall “head over heels.” Mind the wolf, heed the witch and honor the giant in the sky at this extraordinary musical about the power of wishes and what really happens after they come true.

**

“GORGEOUS. Into the Woods not only features a giant but IS ONE. In perhaps its most surprising reconfiguration yet, Fiasco’s production highlights the way people fight with their fate rather than just succumb to it. GENIUS.” – Jesse Green, New York Magazine

“INGENIOUS and BEWITCHING!” – Jennifer Farrar, Associated Press

“STUNNING and AMAZINGLY RICH” - Marilyn Stasio, Variety

    A great show!

Great ‘mash up’ of children’s’ tales by Sondheim. Set was bare as the story and music was so lush. Voices are awesome.

Such a wonderful experience! The actors were phenomenal and so very professional! We really enjoyed the whole experience! Our favorite (which was hard to choose) was Little Red Riding Hood!

    Outstanding

by Cheri Barratt on 2/22/23Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

This show was awesome. The talent, the voices, the comedic acting. The set was very minimalist so the actors had to shine and boy did they. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

    Surprised in the worst way

by Casual Fan on 2/22/23Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I can honestly say I'm surprised and confused by all these positive reviews. My friend and I both felt exactly the same way upon leaving the theatre. Supremely disappointed. To start, the audience was screaming (happily) for the cast the second the curtain rose to the rafters. We have both attended numerous productions and never experienced that before. I assume it is because the cast is popular and very successful, but it actually ended up hurting our experience because then my expectations were set even higher for something that was ultimately a let down. There was hardly any set design or prop usage. The orchestra was on the middle of the stage, with a few characters encircling them at times. There was only one costume change that I noticed. So I then assumed the $100 per ticket I paid must mean the performances would be legendary. I will concede that the singing was extraordinary. I was particularly impressed by the Witch (Montego Glover) and Cinderella (Diane Phelan). But the acting left so much to be desired that both my friend and I kept looking around wondering how everyone around us was so captivated. To be fair, again Glover's witch was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed Gavin Creel every time he was on stage as a prince or the wolf. Unfortunately, none of those outstanding performances were enough to make me care about any of the characters or their situations. We found ourself almost relieved as they each met their fates. I am happy that so many others seemed to enjoy the nearly 3 hour adventure as much as they did, but we definitely did not.

    Totally incredibly wonderful show

by JoGee on 2/21/23Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

LOVED, LOVED this show. We saw it in NYC in Sept. and thought this production was even better. The cast is perfect. EVERYONE was wonderful....loved each character even though I had my favorites. Stephanie J. Block, Sebastian Arcelas, Gavin Creel, Katy Geraty and Montego Glover were over the moon great. I actually saw both of the Buffalo, NY shows....Sat. night and Sunday afternoon. They were even better on Sunday, if you can believe it! Go if you get a chance...you won't soon forget it. The lyrics to the songs can't soon be forgotten.

    4.5 stars

by Maryb on 2/21/23Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

The music, performances and costumes were all AMAZING! We did have a great time! The only reason I’d take away half a star is because it felt way too long.
