Seating should have been general admission. It was hard getting seats for everyone because it sold out yet there were empty seats throughout the event.
Evansville put on a good show. The venue sounded like it sold out, but lots of empty seats. The Fanfest was small, but the vendors were pretty good. The only real issue was the markup on prices due to Ticketmaster. Tickets we’re supposed to be $30 for all access, but Ticketmaster charged $17+ per ticket. Overall, the IHSAA finals was a success in Evansville, but it wasn’t as good as being in the state capital.
This was the tickets experience I have ever dealt with. Ordered one sec and was put somewhere completely different. When calling to get it fixed I was told there's nothing we can do!!!
Tickets were on my phone but after waiting in line, I had to go to the ticket window and get a physical ticket, then get back in the line to get in the venue. The website said no general admission, but a guy bought a ticket at the window and sat right next to us on about the 10th row. Distance was tooooo far for a statewide event - long travel times.
The venue was cold no matter where you sat. The ticket sales needs to improve. The location was not centralized for the majority of schools in attendance. Over priced waters! Hope we never have to see that place again.
As a frequent patron to this event, I was extremely disappointed in the overall experience at the Ford Center. From the absolute fiasco of purchasing tickets, to the chaos of trying to get them switched from will call to digital, to have that work only Friday, and then still be left to pick up my tickets in the freezing cold Saturday morning… to the outrageously priced concessions, inability to re-enter the venue, and the unbelievably freezing cold temperatures, I hope I never have to come back to that facility. The wrestling was excellent, the competition was sensational, but the four walls in which it was held was terrible. Not to mention the location. Not central at all. Over 2 hours away, in a different time zone… just awful.
The facility was very cold, some folks even had blankets on to keep warm. The finals could really be expedited. We left early just because of all the waiting between matches.
How are seats already sold out for Saturdays session. Been going for YEARS and it’s never PACKED. So HOW in the world. I’m super mad really.
I think it is really hard for people to travel 3+ hours and not be able to know if they have tickets for Saturday. I understand last year was very limited but this year this is a terrible way to sell the tickets.
