A lot of fun for little kids

by Annie on 4/24/24John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

Overall, we had a great time and it was a big hit with little kids. I am not sure the facility space was well ventilated because three of us felt pretty ill towards the end of the event (headaches, coughing, stomach aches, really tired) with symptoms lasted for about two hours after the event.

    Boring

by DG on 4/24/24John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

It’s the same show every time ~ BORING!! My 5 yr old grandson was ready to leave after 20 minutes and he loves monster trucks! AND the cost is ridiculous!!

Prepare for headphones for kids! Otherwise awesome time!

by Robert on 4/24/24John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

First time going to a monster truck show, it shouldve been obvious to me but I was unprepared for how loud it will be especially for young kids. My 3yo freaked out. After purchasing headphones we settled in. The headphones at the venue are pricey so you may consider getting some ahead of time. My 7yo was ok with simple earplugs which were on sale as well and very cheap.

    Not worth the money ey.

by Dm on 4/23/24John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

My husband and myself were bored. I guess it was really meant for young children. A lot of talking from the MC's. Very little action with the trucks. We left at halftime, so I can't review the second half. I felt it was a waste of my time and money.

    Get a new MC asap!

by JK on 4/23/24John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

The MC really detracts from the experience. Loud and creepy, this guy takes up far too much time during the show. The down time between “competition” phases is drawn out, and they’re pretty stingy overall in how they run the trucks. The dirt bikes are a nice touch, but they could be more integrated into the show. The first half is painfully boring, with the time gaps between runs throwing a proverbial wrench in any sense of flow or continuity. Second half was more fun, but the constant “judges” score tallying was an overall detractor from the experience. There’s no need to have a clearly staged competition, both kids and adults just want to see the trucks do their thing the whole time. Considering it’s a two hour event, it’s mortifying that the trucks in actuality run a combined 20 minutes. As for the MC, that was the biggest disaster. Running around like a drug-fueled lunatic in a rainbow light up suit, this guy gave off the worst “broken dreams” kind of vibe imaginable. Not sure what the theme was supposed to be, but it was less “Hot Wheels” and more “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. Lots of confused and uncomfortable smirking from the other parents in attendance whenever he got up to kill time. Cannot recommend for the price. A big way to go to reach the energy and spectacle of a true Monster Jam. Also, running these in an indoor arena without specialized airflow accommodations is irresponsible. The exhaust was brutal despite how little time the trucks actually were running.

    We had a GREAT time!

by Magmae31 on 4/16/24Bryce Jordan Center - University Park

My husband and I took our 14 yo (girl), 10 yo (girl), and 9 yo (boy) to see Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Glow Party in State College. Overall, everyone truly enjoyed it! My one critic is that there was ALOT of talking and not as much Monster trucking as I was expecting, and some trucks didn't do every 'event' which was a little disappointing when you were rooting for that truck. However, when the trucks were doing their thing, it was exciting and we all had a great time. The dirt bikes were a real highlight, and the little ones LOVED the car-eating, transforming dino thing! Tickets were absolutely reasonably priced, and I'd recommend this show to other families.

Worst Monster Truck event I've attended.

    by Spider-Gramps on 4/10/24BOK Center - Tulsa

Being a Hot Wheels event my grandson, like all other kids that attended, was excited when the event started. However, he and other kids around us quickly became bored, restless, and cranky. There was too much talking and not enough action. The kids lost interest within the first 45 minutes. The merchandise was way over priced, as was the food and drink. There were not enough food vendors so the lines were very long. However in retrospect it did not matter because there was no action to miss while standing in line for snacks. I will not take my grand-kids to another Hot Wheels Monster Truck event.
