The MC really detracts from the experience. Loud and creepy, this guy takes up far too much time during the show. The down time between “competition” phases is drawn out, and they’re pretty stingy overall in how they run the trucks.
The dirt bikes are a nice touch, but they could be more integrated into the show.
The first half is painfully boring, with the time gaps between runs throwing a proverbial wrench in any sense of flow or continuity.
Second half was more fun, but the constant “judges” score tallying was an overall detractor from the experience. There’s no need to have a clearly staged competition, both kids and adults just want to see the trucks do their thing the whole time. Considering it’s a two hour event, it’s mortifying that the trucks in actuality run a combined 20 minutes.
As for the MC, that was the biggest disaster. Running around like a drug-fueled lunatic in a rainbow light up suit, this guy gave off the worst “broken dreams” kind of vibe imaginable. Not sure what the theme was supposed to be, but it was less “Hot Wheels” and more “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”. Lots of confused and uncomfortable smirking from the other parents in attendance whenever he got up to kill time.
Cannot recommend for the price. A big way to go to reach the energy and spectacle of a true Monster Jam.
Also, running these in an indoor arena without specialized airflow accommodations is irresponsible. The exhaust was brutal despite how little time the trucks actually were running.
