Ruined Experience
by D. G. on 2/24/20DeVos Performance Hall - Grand RapidsUnfortunately, our experience was not the best. All that we could afford for this show were seats at the very back/top of the mezzanine. I did not realize that space is completely open on each side in that area of the theater. No doors or curtains to keep out noise and light. It was SO noisy. People going out to take phone calls, calm excited children, or have conversations with friends (especially after intermission). And when it came time for the staff to close everything down in the lower levels the noise was so much so that others around us started turning around or getting up to see what was going on. We were constantly distracted and had trouble hearing at times. We ended up leaving early. Seriously, what was the point? We could have had a better experience watching the film in our own home. For what we paid for even those tickets, I expect some precautions against noise and distraction to be taken. We truly could not enjoy or even truly concentrate on the experience. It was a waste of our money - and this is coming from a Harry Potter fanatic! I will never again purchase tickets for a show that only has affordable tickets in the top rows of the mezzanine. Forget it.
