Genessa & The Selena Experience is a beloved tribute that celebrates the life, music, and legacy of Selena y Los Dinos. Hailing from Long Island, New York — a hot spot for professional cover bands — the group formed in 2015, 20 years after the passing of the Tejano icon. Since their emergence, they have earned the respect and admiration from myriad Selena fanatics for their heartfelt, spot-on renditions, dazzling costumes, and invigorating showcases that hold striking similarities to the originals.
The tribute band is fronted by Colombian-American singer Genessa Escobar. Previous shows' attendees have described watching her as an emotional encounter. As she dances under stage lights, Genessa not only replicates the Texas legend's famous act, but she captures the audience's attention with her candid telling of interesting facts about the "Queen of Tejano music."
While the Selena Quintanilla impersonator grew up listening to the music of Mariah Carey and Gwen Stefani during the 1990s, it wasn't until she discovered Selena's work that she truly felt identified. When the iconic Latina singer was tragically murdered in 1995, Genessa's fascination for Selena grew stronger, and she claims that honoring it became a religious experience for her. Paying homage to the Queen was a dream turned to reality.
Selena fans will be charmed by the band's genuine devotion. Concertgoers can expect to hear crowd-pleasers "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," "Techno Cumbia," "Amor Prohibido," "Si Una Vez," and "Baila Esta Cumbia," which Genessa delivers with fierceness and heart. While there are plenty of moments that guarantee dance-floor activity, the group's heartrending ballads are equally as moving: "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall in Love."
We didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be so much fun! Genessa did a great interpretation of Selena, you will not be disappointed. The venue is small but the experience was great! No room for dancing but again you mostly end up singing your heart out :)
Amazing band! Totally exceeded my expectations. I will definitely attend the next one with a bigger group of friends.
Genessa does a great Selena tribute! She interacts with the crowd and makes you almost feel like it's the real Selena.
Overall an awesome show. She sings amazing and the energy that the whole band puts out it is just great. My friends and I had a fantastic time. Thanks for such an awesome show!
She is fantastic and I highly recommend seeing her and her band. But the event was advertised as starting at 7 PM and didnt start until almost 10:30 PM. We had other plans and had to leave the show early. And everyone just waited and waited... very boring 3 hour wait. The band is 5 stars. The event was promoted terribly.
The venue was cool. Open space and Genessa and the band were out of this world. They were very interactive with the audience and paid tribute to Selena in a beautiful way. Come back to Atlanta please!!!
It was amazing and so much fun. She was really good and really nice. I felt like Selena was actually there.

Seeing Genessa dancing under the stage lights with the same moves Selena used to once use was so emotional. I really felt as though I was experiencing Selena again. Genessa represented well! She told stories and facts in between songs. It was a true "Selena experience" my sister's and I had such a great night. This is a must-see for any Selena fanatic.
Selena fans will love this show! Genessa's voice is killer, and she honors Selena throughout the whole show, reminding us of her impact even today - 22 years after her tragic death. // This is the second time I've seen them perform, and I'll be at Eisenhower Park July 31st for the third!
