Vegas F1 is a Great Time

    by JaySee on 3/27/24

I had a great experience last year, at the 2023 vegas race. We bought resale and sat in a different location every day, and each had their own pros and cons. For Practice on Thursday (when the cars barely ran) we were in the sphere zone, right next to the chicane. Even though the cars did not run much, we had an awesome time. Food was included, and was great. It is a giant party around the sphere. We practiced changing tires in competition, saw live music and had a fun time. The fan zone was great. For our seats, we had a great view of turns 6, 7 and 8. We were about 2/3 up in SG5103 (i bought them resale for $225 a seat). I would highly recommend this location. SG6 and SG4 are also pretty good. Do not sit up at the very top. The last few rows are so high the lights block parts of your view of the track. Do not sit in SG3 or SG2, as there is a bridge that blocks some of your view. SG1 and SG8 are also inferior locations as you can only see the cars fly by (maybe a little of Turn 5 if you are in the right spot) but you will not see the sphere well or the chicane. For qualifying, we sat on the main straight across from the pits. We were in row 25 of section 108 (we paid $475 a seat resale). This was right in the middle and put us directly across from Alonso's garage. Sit high on the main straight in order to see over the fencing and engineer stations to see into the garages. Row 20 and up of 106-113 should give a good view into some of the teams garages (higher number sections will be across from the better teams). Food was great. Cars actually ran, so that was a plus too. For the race, we went to the Mclaren Vista party at Drai's night club. We had VIP tickets in a shared GA-hospitality area (we got these resale for $1150 each). The food was stellar, and it was bottomless alcohol as well. We got some free mclaren gear. The vegas raiders cheerleading team were there. They had a mclaren f1 race simulator where you could drive the vegas track. David Coulthard and some other former racers i did not know gave some in-race commentary on a stage nearby. I wish i could put up pictures. We were right across the street from Ceasars palace and the bellegio. We watched the cars race right down the fastest part of the strip and in front of the bellagio fountains, while eating filet mignon and sipping on champagne. I recommend this party and would consider doing it again. In all, we spent $3700 in total for two of us to sit in all three of the coolest locations (sphere zone, pits, and the strip). I would do that rather than paying for a 3-day ticket where you are stuck in the same spot each time.

    Lived up to the hype!!!

    by tcrobb on 2/8/24

How cool! I was in the Mirage Zone for all three days. Great food and drink the whole time. They let us stay during the entire pause of FP1. I also walked the whole area downtown and was impressed at all the businesses and their offerings in regards to F1. I felt as though it took over the strip. I loved it. I will be back and I know it will only improve. There are always things here and there that a brand new event can look to improve. I can't wait! Tons of overtakes and lots of speed. It ended up being one of the closest races of the year despite Max winning again :).

    One and Done

by LongtimeF1RaceAttendee on 12/19/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

For context this F1 race weekend was the 10th US race have attended, previously being Long Beach, Phoenix, Indianapolis, and Austin. Seat location were three day tickets in Main Grandstand at the exit of Turn 17 onto front straight right in front of the Finish line and across from post Q/Race (didn't happen) interview podium. Cost was about $2900 per ticket after upgrading from Sphere Grandstand 3 original location where map didn't disclose a pedestrian bridge across the track blocking Turn 6 approach to Turn 7/8 chicane at the time of purchase in November 2022 so called customer service and they moved us for an additional $650 per ticket. Thrusday night started with anticipation and after Ferrari sucked up a water valve cover Practice 1 was stopped after about 6 minutes. This was at about 8:10 pm. At midnight Practice 2 was supposed to start and the only communication to the audience was the session is Delayed with No Start Time shown on the Video screens. Continued waiting in seats until 1:30 am at which point announcement made that "due to logistical concerns"everyone had to leave the facilities. Returned to hotel was a long walk. Spoke with several people who flew in only to attend Thursday practice 1 and 2 for financial reasons and were very disappointed. One clever security guy at the exit of the South Koval zone was cynically offering the fans "thank you for coming and Las Vegas Grand Prix, it can only get better". At 2:15 am now Friday morning checked ESPN for status and the Spanish language channel was broadcasting showing a new start time of 2:30 am. Ok cool, will walk down to the Westin parking garage where car was parked on 3rd floor to at least watch cars on the T4 to T5 straight. That lasted about 5 minutes since Westin security kicked about 20 hotel guests out even though had room keys to prove were guest and I was even sitting on the front of my car. Thanks Formula 1 since Westin said was not their policy, was F1 organizers. Ended up watching Practice 2 at a Shell station on a lighting tower base until 4am since was basically public property or at least the Shell station owners didn't care or have security. I would have rather been in my seats and no prorated refund has been offered by LVGP or Ticketmaster of the $2900 three day ticket price or even a token credit of say $600 or $700 to apply to next years race tickets which at this point will not attend. Saturday and Sunday were much better, however walking access from a different hotel (MGM Grand and Signature Towers area) to walk to the East Harmon Zone entrance was impossible. The distance was less than a half mile in theory from the Top Golf, but the adjoining hotel and condos on Harmon Ave had their parking lot walkways blocked off which again according to their security was mandated by F1. Even though the track entrance was about a 5 minute walk in theory, the only way to get to the entrance was to walk about 2 to 3 miles around the F1 shipment staging lot out to the road along the airport then backtracking to the East Harmon entrance. Ridesharing was the only alternative although wouldn't pick up at our tower since was too close to the track then getting back to Top Golf was also tricky since is where the VIP Paddock entrance vehicle staging area is located. This was ridiculous and F1 needs to make a dedicated walkway along the Harmon Ave south side region and inside the track on the north side and work out how to get the probably 5000 people staying in the MGM Grand region of hotels as well as others on the south end of the strip near Turn 14-16. After the race the top three podium finishers - Max/Charles/Checo were put into a limo and driven to the Bellagio instead of doing the post race interviews right in front of the very expensive seats we had purchased. Really F1 seriously - not announced, they even had dice put into the area by staff as if interviews were supposed to happen there then they changed their mind. The event was a spectacle and besides all these issues was enjoyable but left with a bitter taste that no refund has been offered for Thursday and the impossible confined walkway access to particular zones especially from very expensive hotel selected specifically for close location to Main Grandstand area, only to be a 2 to 3 mile walk. Lastly, no decent cameras and lenses were allowed and there are almost no walk around areas to look at the track even thru fences so are confined to your seats. If you want to see F1 cars in action at their full potential and able to walk around to see different views, go to Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Don't make hotel reservations until the last minute is another tip.

    Super Unorganized

by Aryan on 11/28/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

Racing was great but the event it self was super unorganized. First night's event was a wash, and we didn't get an apology or a dollar back. None of the cops, or event people knew the right way to get to the entrances, they all sent us to different locations and no one could just say I don't know the right answer. Once inside the venue, it was a bit more organized. The free food was also average at best.

    Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023

by Anne McT on 11/28/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

We flew over from Scotland for this event and while the race itself was fantastic, there were a few down points. First of all the opening ceremony was a bit under-whelming as each of the big names artists were only on stage for around 60/90 seconds. The whole ceremony was supposed to last an hour but only lasted half an hour. Secondly, the first practice session got canned due to a valve cover coming loose and the race was red flagged. These things can happen but the communication about what was happening was very poor. We were left sitting around until they decided to kick everyone out at 1.30am - no one knew what was happening and there were no real regular updates. On the plus side, the all inclusive food and non-alcoholic drinks were good and the seats we had in the east Harmon stand were fab. As I said, the race itself was brilliant so all in all we had a great time.

Great Event but Tickets Not Worth the Price

by Steve on 11/27/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

Really looked forward to this event but ultimately didn't feel like the tickets provided the experience we expected. Charging nearly $5,000 for two tickets sets the expectations rather high. Our view was partially blocked the entire time. To make it worse, we had "standers"who stood in an unticketed area further blocking the view but were never directed to their seats by the staff. Food wasn't close to what was described with the ticket - the food provided was good, but fell significantly short form the variety that was promised on the tickets. Bleacher seats were small and steep, careful not to lean forward.

Don’t believe what you heard - it was a great experience! Thursday was rough for sure, but everything else was incredible. Well organized, friendly volunteers, good food, etc. Can’t wait for next year.

    Format was terrible

by Trackman on 11/27/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

The format with a multiple hour break between practice sessions was terrible and the first session only lasted 8 minutes. We were then not allowed to attend the second session with no information provided about what was happening.

    F1 Vegas

by Stnkyboy on 11/26/23FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX - Las Vegas

We were definitely doing Las Vegas F1 on a budget. We got tickets at the West Harmon bleachers and the view from the track was great. I totally recommend getting the Amex radios that telecast the race to keep up with what is going on. The section provided food and drink, lines were not that long. Plenty of port-o-John’s. The race itself was very exciting! I do wish they scheduled qualifying a little earlier than midnight. Track temp might be a tad warmer if it was pushed up 8 or 10pm. Over all the venue had plenty of staff to assist, and there was a lot of walking and bridge crossing - when everyone, fans and the course itself want to occupy the Vegas strip there is definitely going to be congestion. Overall had a great time and will book again
