About

Foreign Air On Tour

Enigmatic electronic-indie duo Foreign Air have an undeniable knack for creating well-crafted, experimental electro-pop in the vein of Alt-J and Glass Animals. Ahead of the curve in collaborating remotely, Jesse Clasen and Jacob Michael began Foreign Air as a long-distance project while living in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., respectively, in the late 2000s. They were still members of other bands, including the Bear Romantic and U.S. Royalty at the time, bonding over their love of musical experimentation and creating unique soundscapes.

After several years spent paying their dues in other bands, touring in old vans and sleeping on friends' floors, they decided to make a serious go of Foreign Air. Success came quickly with the release of their first single, "Free Animal," which landed placements in ads for Nike, Samsung and on major-network television shows.

In 2020, they released their debut full-length album, Good Morning Stranger, a collection of buoyant and infectious electro-pop tunes. Grab your tickets to catch them live when they stop by a city near you.

Foreign Air Live in Concert

Coming of age performing in different indie rock bands, Jesse Clasen and Jacob Michael met when their respective bands played at the same event. Each an admirer of the other's work, they found they shared a lot in common musically, including an interest in experimenting with different sounds to create unconventional electronic music. They stayed in touch and collaborated remotely over the years under the moniker Foreign Air. Agreeing that this project was more gratifying than their other bands, they decided to leave the others to focus on Foreign Air full-time.

Something hit a nerve with music fans and they became something of an overnight success, amassing more than 100 million streams of several stand-alone singles including "Free Animal," "Lying" and "Wake Me Up" on Spotify before ever releasing a full-length album.

In 2020, Foreign Air released the self-produced album Good Morning Stranger, which sees the duo experimenting with vintage drum machines, synthesizers and effect pedals to great effect. Inspired by '90s music they grew up with including Beastie Boys, the duo call their debut album a "true labor of love."

After winning over countless new fans touring with the likes of Phantogram, Bishop Briggs and Alice Merton, and playing festivals such as Firefly, Shaky Knees and Hangout, they're stepping into the spotlight on their own headlining tour.

    Better live

by Lucy on 9/10/22The Masquerade - Purgatory - Atlanta

Most people we knew hadn't heard of them. I discovered through my daughter's video game playlist. Such a small venue and very affordable tickets so we took a chance not knowing what to expect. Frequently bands are better on record when they're new but this wasn't true with them. Fun energy and better quality live. We had so much fun! Bought the record and have been listening more to them at home.

    Like a private show

Loved the intimacy of the smaller crowd show, they played amazingly. Cant wait for the new album. Love to see lesser known bands out there and kicking ass on tour
