About

Final Fantasy is Owen Pallett, a violinist and singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On September 18th 2006, Final Fantasy won the inaugural Polaris Music Prize for the best Canadian album (based solely on artistic merit). As Final Fantasy, Pallett has been noted for his live performances, wherein he plays the violin into a sampler controlled by foot pedals, which then loops back one or more of the previously played musical phrases as he plays additional parts simultaneously. He has also performed with more traditional string quartets as backing musicians.
In February of 2005, his debut album, Final Fantasy Has A Good Home, was released by the recording club Blocks (sometimes referred to as ‘BlocksBlocksBlocks'), a cooperative, Toronto-based record label of which he is a member. A second album is entitled "He Poos Clouds", and inspiration for the songs are based on the eight schools of magic used for Dungeons & Dragons and how they relate to modern times.

    Absolutely stunning...

by Jayflex on 6/20/19Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I took my mom to this show and despite her not knowing anything about Final Fantasy VII, she immediately understood and felt the passion we all have for the game and its music. I can't get her to stop listening to Aerith's theme now...

Great but not too much Orchestrated Performance

    by J R on 6/15/19Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I enjoyed the sound and talent the orchestra performed, but I feel there was too much reliance on the videos from the tv. The presentation and respect towards FF7 and those related to it were fine, but I felt the videos with no orchestra performing clogged too much time.

    Half and Half

    by C. on 6/12/19Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

It seemed a little rushed given half of the music was from the actual original game, rather than all the songs being performed by the orchestra. However, still was an enjoyable experience.

Amazing. Heart warming. Loved every second. Great orchestra and choir. Great and genuine direction and conducting. What a pleasure to experience.

    Waste of time and money

    by C. on 6/12/19Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I was expecting this symphony to at least utilize the great orchestra they had brought in. However, around half the show was the band itself sitting around not playing while they played the MIDI versions of the soundtrack through the speaker. I left halfway through and will definitely be a lot more wary of the events that I attend from now on.

    Owen Pallett was amazing!

by buffalobarb on 4/10/10Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Owen Pallett should be playing Carnegie Hall! He is an amazingly talented musician. He was amazing on the violin. He did have someone playing guitar/drums and singing on some of the songs -someone he called ______puppy or puppy dragon. Owen's voice is amazing. Was it two or three encores he did? I can't remember. I would go see him again tomorrow and will recommend his concert to all my friends. I really liked the Queen Elizabeth Theatre venue. The auditorium was dark when the act performed. I liked that. they gave out sushi rolls and spring rolls when we were waiting to into the theatre. I don't know if Owen provided that or if the theatre regularly does. I am from Buffalo, New York. the trip was definitely worth it. Amazing!!!

Owen by any other name would sounds as sweet.

by Edlucy on 1/22/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

One of the most brilliant musicians of our time. A true artist. A word that is overused I think but is applied correctly in his case. One of the reasons I define him as a real artist is how much he gives of himself. He is totally open with his fans and talks with them and not down to them and i see them give that respect right back to him. I feel very lucky that I got to see him twice in as many months in NYC. So glad I discovered his music back in '06! Lucky me!

    Owen Pallett astounds New York

by Fireye on 1/19/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The opening act, Avi Buffalo, seemed like a california garage band with bad mixing. The music was technically sound, but I wasn't a fan of the lyrics or vocalists, and the mixing made the music a giant wall of sound. However, Owen Pallett and Thomas just amazed me. So many incredible intricies in his music you don't pick up on the record or bootlegs, I was honored to be a part of that audience. Sadly, it seems that Thomas' microphone wasn't active until the last few songs of the encore.
