About

Elton John in Concert

Sir Elton Hercules John, English singer, songwriter and pianist, has been a fixture of the soft rock and pop music scene since the early 1960s and toured the globe extensively in his decades-long career. John's 2016-2018 Wonderful Crazy Night Tour has taken him throughout North America, the Middle East and Europe, as did his 2012-2013 Rocket Man 40th Anniversary Tour and 2011-2012 Greatest Hits Tour. John's musical style is marked by his flashy piano work and distinctive lead vocals. He is best known for his easy-listening rock and pop tunes, though, he is equally accomplished at creating works for films and the stage. His live shows combine his expert musicianship with flamboyant costumes and infectious energy, creating an atmosphere that enthralls audiences worldwide. Elton John's musical prowess has earned him numerous accolades. He managed to have a charting Top 40 hit every year from 1970 to 1996 and has crafted timeless melodies like "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer," "Crocodile Rock," and "Bennie & The Jets." He's been nominated for nearly 30 Grammy Awards, and won eight, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and a Hall of Fame award.

Elton John Background

Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, in Pinner, England, John was introduced to music at an early age. He started playing piano at age four, and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at age 11. After leaving the Academy in 1961, he made the decision to pursue a career in music and joined his first band, Bluesology. John met his longtime writing partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, in the mid-1960s, and since then has collaborated with him on more than 30 albums. Classic albums like his self-titled Elton John and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player are considered masterpieces to many a rock fan, and works like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road catapulted John to his legendary status. Though John is an icon in the field of music, his worldly influence stretches beyond songwriting and performing. In 1992, he established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, with the express purpose of supporting HIV prevention, education and care for those living with the disease.

    Unforgettable Experience

    by D. B. on 11/17/22United Center - Chicago

I've seen Elton John several times on his finale tour and every show has been better than the last. Even at his old age, he still has it! Buy tickets now as this might be your last chance ever to see him perform live. 10/10 would recommend.

    Outstanding Show!

by Sheldon on 11/17/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John is a great showman! Such a fantastic show. He sounds great still! It is sad to think he is retiring but it’s totally understandable.

the end of the yellow brick road

by craigerH on 11/17/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I went to both Friday and Saturday nights Elton John show and was not disappointed either night. the first concert I ever saw was in 1975 and that was Elton John at the ASU activity Center. and all these years later to see him on his final appearance in Arizona was special. the sound system in a baseball stadium with a retractable roof that was closed was top notch and surprising to be honest. Elton and his band were on top of their game for two straight hours thoroughly entertaining and hitting on all the right notes. it's kind of sad that a lot of these people I grew up going to concerts and buying their albums and 8 tracks and cassettes and downloading their new songs are slowly riding off into the sunset.

Chase Field’s Sound System could use work

by Live Event Lover on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton John puts on a fabulous show. That being said, we could not distinctively understand any of his songs. We had great seats, in a lower section, not very far from the stage. We had friends who had nosebleed seats at the very top, and they said they could hear everything perfectly and understand what he was singing. Chase Field needs to invest and checking their complete sound system better, so all attendees can have the best possible experience. If we did not know Elton John‘s songs by heart, we honestly wouldn’t have known what he was singing

    Amazing!

by Miki on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Everything was amazing! The venue was great. Lines were long but fast (security and bathroom). The sound was exceptional, and the fact that Sir Elton John played for almost 2.5 hours blew our mind. Thank you for an out of this world experience!

Life is better having seen Sir Elton John

by Buddles on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

I wouldn't have died not seeing Sir Elton John, but, my life is better for having seen him live. A great night out with a friend and my mom and a stadium full of fellow music lovers and fans. We had a great experience at the stadium, had an easy time entering and exiting - can't speak to parking as we were lucky to have a friend who lived in walking distance and let us park there. Wouldn't hesitate to see him again... if you can, go!

Musical performance marred by disastrous entry operations

by Loyal fan on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

An incredibly talented musical performance was sadly marred by disastrous entry problems getting INTO the Ballpark. Those of us with floor seats, which appeared to be approximately 10,000 people with chairs covering the entire field, were forced into ONE "Special Entrance". We waited in line for 1 hour and 15 minutes which resulted in many of us missing the first 30 minutes of the show. The one entrance was set up because the operator decided that floor ticket holders must have wristbands put on their wrists one by one, which served no purpose whatsoever. We go to Super Bowls, World Series, and other concerts, and no one needs a wristband to simply get to your seats and you are never restricted to one gate. Everyone has their tickets plainly seen on their phones. So, the people with the most expensive seats were treated the worst. Very disappointing and hurt our enjoyment and experience of a great concert that truly had a magnificent performance by incredible musicians.

    Extraordinary Man. Extraordinary Concert.

by SuzyQ on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

Elton's Farwell Yellow Brick Road concert was amazing. The man and his music are extraordinary - energy was high, music was fabulous. He was on stage performing without flaw (except for brief costume changes - of course) for more than 2 hours. Can't believe he's 75 years old! I loved every minute of it and my 21-year-old son did too!!

    Awesome!

by Larry on 11/16/22Petco Park - San Diego

Sir Elton John gave an absolutely awesome concert. I'd only have on negative point...the unbelievably rude nearby concert goers who loudly talked throughout the concert until they thankfully got up and left half way through the show. Who wants to hear them!!!!

    Great show, absurd prices

by Arizona Kid on 11/16/22Chase Field - Phoenix

While Sir Elton is a fabulous performer, I think the video screens could have focused more on the band than the videos being shown. After all, there were three of them. Ticket prices were high, in some cases absurd. Even nosebleed seats were over priced. It was my first concert at Chase Field and its a horrible venue. The stage is too far from the seats above the outfield, hence my comment about the video screens. Also, there was a big speaker in my line of site. As well as the same for many many others. Would I go see him again? No. But it's his "last" tour so I do recommend people seeing him. But the ticket prices are ridiculous. Would I go back to Chase Field for another concert? Probably not. I'd look for other places that are set up better that a huge baseball field.

    by V. W. on 11/16/22Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

One of the best performers I have ever seen…..This was on my list of things to see and do. I waited 2 years because of Covid cancelation, but it was great. (I did apparently leave the concert with Covid, but recovered afterwards.)
