    MOOSEBUMPS

by HNRCREW on 2/22/18The Belasco Theater - Los Angeles

Kool Keith did not disappoint in resurrecting his Dr. Octagon cult persona from 1996 (over 20 years ago!). I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but with Q-bert in the house (and Prince Paul opening up!) it made things Official. Doc Oc / Kool Keith / Mr. Gerbik nailed each song and was in seriously top form. Dan The Automator could be a music genius, but he is one of the least charismatic, most awkward people ever to step on a stage. I dunno if he was just high or something but it was so distracting to see him effortfully bungle around on stage (with his turned off mic on almost every song, and he never realized it) ...thank you sound man. An amazing comeback, brand new album "MOOSEBUMPS" in Spring, and no doubt more concerts and possibly even festival appearances to follow in 2018. DO NOT MISS THIS LEGENDARY ACT! PS Shout out to the crowd smoking god-knows-whuh.... it smelled like a combination of sherm, horse crap and burnt blankets.

    strange/nasty/funky/excellent

by wintermute0 on 2/21/18The Fillmore - San Francisco

a night of crazy stream of consciousness imagery rapped over dope break beats and scratches. tight band, bassist and drummer provided tight chunky backing for the scratching and sampling. plus cool weird video projections and horror movie doctor costumes. (truly) sick.

    Paging Dr. Octagon

by djBullfrog on 6/4/17Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

Show was tight! All the key players showed up and wrecked it. Keith was on point. Qbert is amazing. The Automator rocked the dope beats. They even had live bass and a percussionist! It was a show to remember, for sure!

    Legendary Album, terrible performance.

by siunvgit85 on 3/10/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Kool Keith has always been weird, but now he's old and weird. He literally didn't know the words to many songs ans would just mumble or rap wayyyyyyy off time. He would blow by entire verses after like 12 words. QBert scratching with Mixmaster Mike was cool, but there seemed to be something wrong with the sound. Oh and as for the 4 or 5 new songs they peppered in; the crowd literally stopped moving and just stood there. The new songs are seriously just horrible. Stick to the album, the live show is a huge disappointment.
