About

Dita Von Teese on Tour

Dita Von Teese, Queen of Burlesque and cabaret performer extraordinaire, offers sophisticated, sexy performances that transcend the striptease. Inspired by pinup girls like Bettie Page and burlesque icons like Gypsy Rose Lee, Dita has created a magical, mesmerizing persona on and off stage.

Dita has toured the world with her burlesque revues, including three full-length shows: Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray!, The Art of the Teese, and Dita Von Teese and the Copper Coupe. Her current tours incorporate sketches from these famous spectaculars, as well as acts from up-and-coming dancers, singers and models.

Even more beautiful in person than she is in her famous fashion and fetish photographs as an artist's model and calendar girl, Dita is both a classy host and world-class dancer. Originally a ballerina, Dita Von Teese has been singing, modeling — and yes, stripping — since the early 1990s. Her shows are glamorous and fun, and although there is an exotic-erotic charge in the atmosphere, the vibe alternates between sultry and campy, as the most classic burlesque is famous for.

Dita Von Teese was born Heather Renée Sweet in 1972 in Rochester, Michigan. Her girlish interest in playing dress-up in her mother's clothes and her burgeoning obsession with the film stars of the ‘40s intersected, and she created a femme-fatale, glamour-girl persona that she used when she began her burlesque career in her early twenties.

As one might expect from a fashion icon with her own line of lingerie, couture accessories and perfumes in major department stores, the costumes and makeup in Dita's shows are to die for. The intrigue of burlesque includes both putting on and taking off clothing, after all.

Dita's long resume as an actor and entertainer includes a cameo on CSI performing her famous champagne glass act, as well as Eurovision 2009 and videos by Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars and her former spouse Marilyn Manson. Her TV appearances cover more than 10 years on such shows as RuPaul's Drag Race, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model and as a guest judge on Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef Masters and Cupcake Wars.

Besides being a brand ambassador for luxury brands like Cointreau and Perrier, she is also a humanitarian spokesperson for HIV prevention and finding a cure for AIDS, and received the American AIDS Foundation for AIDS Research Award of Courage in 2008.

Dita Von Teese is the author of two books, Burlesque and the Art of the Teese, and Your Beauty Mark, The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour.

    1st TIME FOR ME

by Sweetsoulsister1991 on 2/17/22Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

WHATTA XPERIENCE!!...First things first...ticket purchase was super easy going straight through Ticketmaster. Everything was handy on my cell phone, no printing of anything needed to be done. The Theatre personnel made the verification of Covid vax and IDs quick n efficiently, done as we stood in line. Gates rolled up 20 min late, but we all waited patiently! First time EVER seeing a Dita Von Teese show and what a show of talent it was!! Every performer showed much enthusiasm during their performance and exhibited their passion for their art form. It had vibes of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, cat calls, hoot and hollers included but without throwing popcorn! The crowd was on fire being the first show performance for her post Covid! A truly memorable Valentine's evening for us all!! THANKS DITA and TICKETMASTER, too!!

A glamorous night of beauty and talent

by thesatchmo2000 on 1/12/20Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

This was a fun night. Full of wonder and amazement. I was razzled and dazzled by the razzmatazz and pinache of the prestidigitation in the New Years Eve show. Ballet rabbits and beautiful choreography. All performers were top notch and deserved the standing ovation.

Underwhelming for a New Years Gala

by Matrimony on 1/3/20Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

The supporting acts were great, but the MC wasn’t very funny and the acts that Dita performed weren’t favorites of mine. The magic show aspects were somewhat entertaining but not thrilling or titillating. Watching the performers toast with champagne made NYE feel more like a spectator sport than a celebration I was participating in. An underwhelming experience for an experienced Dita fan looking for an extraordinary evening.

Fun Show.... Dita Could Have Done More

by Sabirox on 1/3/20Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Loved the idea of almost everyone going black tie at an old downtown LA theater. Crowd looked amazing, almost as if we were in New York, which is a big rarity in LA. Folks here just don’t dress up for theater, so this was super cool. The theater was gorgeous and fit the evening perfectly. The show itself was lacking and frankly parts were pretty boring and corny.... in particular Dita’s numbers. Had some good international dancers and performers. Included decent diversity of folks which was great, not just skinny white girls. I’d go again just because the venue and crowd were great, but Dita definitely half-assed it.

    Dita is gorgeous

by Elevatormuzic on 4/30/18The Tabernacle - Atlanta

The performers were very gorgeous and entertaining throughout the entire show. My first experience at a burlesque show...think I set the bar too high for my self experience. After the show I was surprised to see her at another venue I went to. What a treat!

Dita's show is a must see!

by pinupred on 10/17/17The Fillmore at Miami Beach - Miami

Dita's burlesque extravaganza was absolute perfection. She performed 4 of her most famous acts, along with other performances by other artists in between. The costumes, hair, and makeup were unbelievable. The crowd was very excited and fun, the MC interacted with us a lot. I highly recommend this show to everyone!

by atomsk99 on 6/30/13the fillmore - san francisco

the emcee, murray hill, was funny and kept the show lively. the other entertainers were great. dita is far more stunning in person than in her photos. i managed to be right up against the stage at the fillmore, and enjoyed the whole show.

by NevermoreLenore on 12/26/12House of Blues - Hollywood

I think everyone should experience this...especially if you are a Dita fan...just fork out the money and go! It was soo worth it. My dude and I are big fans. We were entertained through out the whole show. She's beautiful in person and her pieces in the show are just fabulous. She has some great acts. She is quite the classy burlesque star. There was a slight wardrobe malfunction, but she handled it with class...seriously a truly unique individual. She wont do this too long so go check her out!!

    Phenomenal

by MaskSF on 12/22/12House of Blues - Los Angeles

Dita Von Teese has an otherworldly show for you. I was just floored that someone could create something so beautiful and elegant, from something as simple as a strip. The Strip Strip Hooray show was amazing, the other acts were good, entertaining and the vibe was very fun, campy. It didn't feel as much like a sexual show as much as entertainment and frivolity, although Dita is obviously a knockout. I want to see a Dita Von Teese show again immediately!
