About

Dita Von Teese on Tour

Dita Von Teese, Queen of Burlesque and cabaret performer extraordinaire, offers sophisticated, sexy performances that transcend the striptease. Inspired by pinup girls like Bettie Page and burlesque icons like Gypsy Rose Lee, Dita has created a magical, mesmerizing persona on and off stage.

Dita has toured the world with her burlesque revues, including three full-length shows: Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray!, The Art of the Teese, and Dita Von Teese and the Copper Coupe. Her current tours incorporate sketches from these famous spectaculars, as well as acts from up-and-coming dancers, singers and models.

Even more beautiful in person than she is in her famous fashion and fetish photographs as an artist's model and calendar girl, Dita is both a classy host and world-class dancer. Originally a ballerina, Dita Von Teese has been singing, modeling — and yes, stripping — since the early 1990s. Her shows are glamorous and fun, and although there is an exotic-erotic charge in the atmosphere, the vibe alternates between sultry and campy, as the most classic burlesque is famous for.

Dita Von Teese was born Heather Renée Sweet in 1972 in Rochester, Michigan. Her girlish interest in playing dress-up in her mother's clothes and her burgeoning obsession with the film stars of the ‘40s intersected, and she created a femme-fatale, glamour-girl persona that she used when she began her burlesque career in her early twenties.

As one might expect from a fashion icon with her own line of lingerie, couture accessories and perfumes in major department stores, the costumes and makeup in Dita's shows are to die for. The intrigue of burlesque includes both putting on and taking off clothing, after all.

Dita's long resume as an actor and entertainer includes a cameo on CSI performing her famous champagne glass act, as well as Eurovision 2009 and videos by Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars and her former spouse Marilyn Manson. Her TV appearances cover more than 10 years on such shows as RuPaul's Drag Race, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model and as a guest judge on Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef Masters and Cupcake Wars.

Besides being a brand ambassador for luxury brands like Cointreau and Perrier, she is also a humanitarian spokesperson for HIV prevention and finding a cure for AIDS, and received the American AIDS Foundation for AIDS Research Award of Courage in 2008.

Dita Von Teese is the author of two books, Burlesque and the Art of the Teese, and Your Beauty Mark, The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour.

    Wonderful and So Much Fun

by Leanne on 2/27/23Fox Performing Arts Center - Riverside

Dita Von Teese is an absolute gem. I love the comfortable atmosphere she has with her show. This was my first time, and I did everything: VIP, Meet & Greet, and Socializing with others. As someone that struggles with Social anxiety, I felt at ease. I was really happy, and had loads of fun. Even more so, I was inspired to continue to do theatre and my own pole and burlesque classes. Thank you Dita <3

    Overpriced Talent Show

by Dxnny on 2/27/23Fox Performing Arts Center - Riverside

Empty stage presence, hardly any big props or big backdrop scenery. I wouldn’t pay to watch her again.

    Eh...could have been better

by em_k on 2/25/23The Magnolia - El Cajon

Tough to find parking. Definitely need either bartenders or at least faster moving ones. We stood in line for over 1/2 to order overpriced cocktails. Even though I indicated the brand of liqour I wanted, what I was served wasn't what I ordered. Took so long in line cuz the bartenders were casually having conversations with each patron, as if we didn't have seats to get to and a show to watch. Ended up missing the entire first act of the show as a result. Once we got in to find our seats, no one came up to help us. Went up to a security person standing around talking to a colleague, who only managed to point to our row. When I advised someone was sitting in one our sears, he told another security person. This second security person went and spoke at some length to the person in our seat, who seemed none to happy about being asked to move. After being seated for about 15 min, the person who had been occupying our seat abruptly got up, went up to the security person who asked them to move, and engaged in another lengthy convo, before exiting the area. Never saw them again. Enjoyed the majority of the show. Would have thought Dita would have been in more of the show and been a bit more energetic, but....

    Underwhelming but still good

by Dee on 2/25/23The Magnolia - El Cajon

Dita is stunning, but her performance was underwhelming. The glam & glitz was there but the energy wasn’t. The supporting performances were the highlight of the show. We were so impressed by their choreography and energy! I would recommend attending if you’re a fan of Dita and appreciate the glam! However, you can also experience the art of burlesque by attending local shows in your area.

by tohlsson on 2/25/23The Magnolia - El Cajon

Great show! The host was super funny and made the show even better. 4.5 stars only because 5 stars is well.. perfect. It could have been a little bit better. Great diversity of male, female and in between. Sexy and provocative. Worth it once for sure!

    Mediocre performance

by Sally on 2/23/23The Louisville Palace - Louisville

All the other artistes featured were energetic, talented and made you feel the warmth of a beautiful performance. They had talent!!!. The main feature- Von Tesse has no talent, she smiled, waved her hands, looked seductive and poured water over herself in a tall glass which is all she did. Nothing fantastic or particurly talented, I did not understand the hype. All the other performers though, brought enery and talent, so made the event not to be a complete waste of money. Do not buy the front row seats, the speakers at the palace in Louisville are in front and it was awefully loud . No need to waste $150 on front row seats for a mediocre performance ,get the $35 balcony tickets, you would miss nothing and have better view.
