About

DEAD & COMPANY IN CONCERT:

Deadheads rejoice! The Grateful Dead have been reborn as Dead & Company, delivering all the groovy vibes and extended jams fans know and love. Longtime Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart are joined by superstar singer/songwriter and accomplished blues guitarist John Mayer as they blend rock, folk, funk, jazz, and psychedelia to blow fans' minds with epic aural bliss. With their spacey instrumental interplay and awe-inspiring solos, the group organically weaves their way through audience favorites like "Truckin'", "Casey Jones", and "Fire on the Mountain". The long, strange trip is back on the road -- Dead & Company are bringing their positive energy and uncanny musical genius to ticket buyers everywhere.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Grateful Dead were instrumental to the '60s psychedelic sound and hippie culture. Jerry Garcia (guitar/vocals), Bob Weir (guitar/vocals), Phil Lesh (bass/vocals), Bill Kreutzmann (drums), and Ron McKernan (keyboards/vocals) got things rolling in 1965. Excluding McKernan and Garcia, who died in 1973 and 1995 respectively, the core lineup has remained virtually unchanged sinc then. Many other musicians have helped shape the band’s sound as well, especially second drummer Mickey Hart, who joined the Dead in 1967. The band toured excessively throughout the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s, famously playing sets that exceeded the three-hour mark. After Garcia's death the group soldiered on, continuing to build their legacy through fearless sonic exploration. It was not until their 50th anniversary in 2015 that the Grateful Dead decided to retire their name. Fortunately for fans, their retirement was short-lived as pop singer/songwriter and blues guitarist extraordinaire John Mayer brought Weir, Hart, and Kreutzmann back out for more legendary jam sessions. Dead & Company continues in the Dead's spontaneous and inventive musical tradition -- just the way Deadheads like it.

    Incredible Experience

by Luke on 5/22/24Sphere - Las Vegas

This was by far the coolest and most immersive concert/event I have ever experienced. Nothing I watched ahead of time prepared me for just how amazing it was going to be. Visiting The Sphere in Las Vegas should be a bucket list item for everyone who enjoys concerts or a glimpse into the future of entertainment.

    Dead @ Sphere

by Greg on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

Fantastic, the venue really held up to the hype, the staff were super friendly, and the sound quality was strong. Thank you Sphere! Word to the wise, if you’re standing in GA, make sure you have Hokas or Adizeros, your feet will thank you

    What a show!

by Chris W on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

First off the venue is totally different than any other to experience. The sound was awesome without being ear splitting. Even though we sat in a limited view area with a balcony overhang above, we were able to see a lot. OF course the band was in prime condition and played as well as I've seen. My only complaint was after the show trying to hook up with our uber driver was a mess. We never connected. Tried a 2nd Uber and still no connection. Finally a lone driver without a rider took us back to the hotel.

Songs to fill the air in visual paradise!!!

by Skifreshy on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

Dead Forever is simply the most insane over the top dead experience I’ve ever encountered!!! Bobby was all in and Mayer was displaying his talents with awesome Jerryness notations! Oteil rocked ship of fools, Mickey’s rap was a diversion from originality with Jay Lane jamming next to him in their epic drums extravaganza. Mind boggling to say the least.

    Great show, seats were misrepresented

by HK on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

I went to see Dead & Company at The Sphere for the first three nights of the residency (May 16, 17 and 18, 2024). The band was phenomenal and the visuals were great. More about that in a moment. My big complaint is that on the third night, I had 3 reserved seats in Sec 110, Row 21, Seat 19-21. These were along the aisle on the extreme right of the Sphere. They were advertised as unrestricted view seats and THEY WERE NOT. They were under the overhang, which obstructed a significant part of the Sphere visual show. My recollection is that they were advertising that only rows 24 and up had a restricted view. This may be true in the center of the section, but NOT along the sides. I walked down and looked from the lower rows, and along the right side aisle, you needed to be in about row 17 or lower of Section 110 to have an unrestricted view of the Sphere. This is false advertising and a significant concern to me. Now, on to the good stuff. On the first and second nights, I had a full view of the Sphere screen, and it was amazing. On the first night, the video programming included a limited number of videos utilizing the full Sphere screen, accompanied by a number of filler-type scenes showing close-ups of the band members. The second night, about 75% of the programming was the same scenes from night 1, with some new ones added. And then more were added on night 3. So it seems that the screen programming is progressing, and probably will just get better as the residency goes on. And some of the scenes are astoundingly good. And the band!! What a treat to see the band members reimagining these songs and reinvigorating the exceptional music of the Grateful Dead. John Mayer is a stellar guitarist and is getting better each time I see him. Jeff Chimenti's keyboards are spectacular. And the band meshes and improvises as well as the Dead ever did, in my opinion. Don't miss this show. Just be SURE you have a seat with an unrestricted view of The Sphere!!!!

    Fantastic sets, amazing venue

by Alaska Mark on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

Great opening weekend! Each night was a bit better than the previous one. Drums were phenomenal, best I have ever seen. I was surprised there was overlap from night to night with the visuals but I loved the way the shows opened and closed. We blasted off in San Fran, the band took us on a wild ride through the universe, and returned us to that bright, blue, ball we call home at the end of the night. My daughter and I had GA on Thursday. Make sure to try for early entry. I was right behind the early entry folks so I was 3rd row, in front of Bobby. GA was awesome. Everyone was chill. There was lots of room. I met some really cool people and had a great night. It was my daughter's first show. I don't think it could have been better. We had section 100 row 34 for Friday. If you get seats in section 100 don't get rows 20 to 34. There is an overhang and you can't see the Sphere. To be honest, rows 20 to 34 in section 100 are the only design flaw I found with the venue. They should not sell seats that have an overhang in a venue like the Sphere. Saturday night we were in section 400 row 9. I don't think there is a bad seat in section 200, 300, or 400. Sound was amazing and the view of the Sphere was perfect. The angle used to arrange the rows of seats is well done. Rows in front of you are down enough so you don't have to worry about sitting behind someone tall. Also, the air circulation and a/c system in the Sphere is first class. Finally, ladies, the general consensus is that the Sphere has ample toilets in the women's bathroom. At set break in GA I heard one woman comment, "This is the first time I've never had to wait to go to the women's bathroom at a Dead show!"Seems like the Sphere has many firsts, this is another!

    Good, not great.

by Brad on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

Good show. Bobby and Mickey are the only remaining original. Played great songs. The Sphere is meh... it's cool for sure but it's not like a drop everything and go sort of thing. A nature show would be better than a concert. The seats are also narrow.

    Shows 1-3 Vegas 2024

by Don on 5/21/24Sphere - Las Vegas

Band was fresh, inspired and tight. Venue is next level and like nothing else. Visuals put all other special effects from ALL other shows (not just Dead shows) on the level of "nice tapestry behind the drum set dude". This includes the awesome drone effects last year at Oracle Park and Folsum Field. Second set, day 3, set list is gonna be hard to top.
