    I love David Allan Coe

by Willow on 9/19/20SouthWest Florida Event Center - Bonita Springs

It' s hard to see a brilliant artist failing. He was in an electric scooter and was not himself physically. I have seen him before, so this performance was very underwhelming. He did not sing all the words to the songs. It pained me to watch him have difficulty performing. Perhaps it's time for a well deserved retirement. I don't think he has to be subjected to do concerts given his physical condition and age.

DAC is obviously talented but Father Time has taken its toll. Stories were great music and singing were not good and lose the wig.

    Yes, he's a monument, but ....

    by W. C. on 8/13/19Birchmere - Alexandria

something was up. He was off his game. I had never seen DAC live before and didn't know what to expect, but whatever I expected, this was tough to watch. Birchmere shows typically start on the nose of the advertised time. This show was supposed to start at 7:30, and, I don't know if it was quite 8:30, but it was close, which tells you something was up. DAC began the show solo, running through a number of songs in quick succession. He complained about not being able to hear his voice or his guitar, both of which were too loud, really, in the house mix. His singing was rough, his playing was rougher. The band finally came on, but they barely played. I don't know whether these were unrehearsed songs (which is hard to imagine) or unrehearsed keys, or what, but the band mostly watched along with the rest of us. He was coherent when he talked, but the show was anything but. One of the odder shows I've ever seen.

    waste of time

by liz on 8/13/19Birchmere - Alexandria

The performance was 40 min late starting and then for the next hour that I stayed a lot of time was spent by david allan trying to get right sound and his earpiece proper- also his guitar strap set right. apparently he said they arrived late and didn't get chance to do sound check which I find funny since I was there hour before and his band was on stage I was extremely disappointed - I guess if you could overlook all the goof ups and just be able to appreciate the enormous talent of David Allan Coe it would have been worth it but for me personally it wasn't worth my time.

    DAC

by KK on 8/13/19Birchmere - Alexandria

First of all the guy is 80! The show wasnt quite what I expected. I had hoped he would do longer versions of the songs. The sound system could have been better. But I did get to see a legend. It was my first time at the Birchmere. Couldn't have asked for better staff, all were polite and helpful. I hope to get back soon.

    Disappointing

    by C. on 7/30/19Reverb - Reading

Show was to start at 8 but David Allen Coe did not come on stage until 10:45. Venue held off on him coming out because about 50% of the audience left after the 1st 2 songs He was basically talking his songs not singing. He was unintelligible at times and you could not make out the song he was singing. He is about 80 and should really consider retiring so people only have good memories of him as a performer. It was really sad.

    Outlaw country

by Johnace on 7/20/19Sony Hall - New York

Great show by a country legend. Did songs spanning his entire career. Including songs he written for Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck and Kid Rock. Show was basically a non stop medley of all of these songs. Highlight for me was Jack Daniels If You Please, Ride and You Never Even Call Me Buy My Name
