    What talent - what petulance

by Florine on 3/11/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

Dan Bern is an incredible musician, a poet and hilarious. I've been a big fan for a large number of years, but his angry and impatient personality distances the fans/audience that love him. It was initially interesting to see him knock heads with his sound guy, but it was impossible at any point to relax and enjoy the concert since anticipation of his next outburst was constant. Again, he's a wonderful talent, but I've seen many wonderful talents and have never seen any performer repeatedly stop in the middle of a song to express his frustration and work with the sound system. The Ark is informal but it wasn't a practice session.

    Great Writing and Performance

by DeanTheBear on 3/10/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

Dan Bern has witty lyrics, deftly handling deep topics in fun ways. His guitar work was great and he can handle many styles. He has a great catalog of covers he adds to the show and I can't wait to see him again.

Dan Bern puts on a must see performance

by Veggiegrrrl on 3/10/11The Ark - Ann Arbor

Dan always puts on a great show, and this was no exception! He's talented and funny, and his songs run the gamut from serious and poignant to hilarious. This was a nice, intimate show--The Ark is a great venue for that! Lots of audience participation and singalongs, and lots of laughter. I can't wait until he comes back by!
