One home game is not enough, this was A BLAST!

by Surrogate77 on 5/2/19Allen Event Center - Allen

I watch OWL regularly and I will say that being there, and watching it live was an amazing experience! The energy was so strong and the crowd really kept the entire venue amped! I cannot wait for another Dallas home game, and if Houston gets one soon I'll be there too! Give me more LIVE OverWatch! GO DALLAS!!!

Came here for the first time, was a good time!

by Rabbiddawg on 5/1/19Allen Event Center - Allen

Drove into Dallas Sunday morning and loved that it was a breeze to find parking (we arrived only 30 mins early for a sold out show). Getting through security was a no issue, though upon reentry, there was a hiccup in consistency, I had to walk back to my truck to leave my bag I had previously walked in with. It was a little strange, but I didn't mind. The bathrooms and lobby areas were clean and kept maintained throughout the day. I didn't buy any food, but it seemed like lots of folks around me enjoyed what they bought at concessions. As far as the host/Allen Event Center goes, this venue went above expectations. Staff/ushers in and throughout the stadium were courteous and informative. Personnel with soft skills make all the difference. As for the event itself, the equalizer for the games weren't well balanced. It was difficult to hear the commentators and other sfx over certain sound effects playing in-game during the match. If I were to make a suggestion as well, the screen they used to show the match was a fine size, but icons displayed in it were hard to tell, even sitting closer up to the screen. There were two smaller screens on either side of the arena, and I would've liked to see point percentage/payload stats up there instead, to give the audience less cluttered viewing space on the main one. I think this would follow up on the same concept as having the individual players' stats on screens that were flanking the main big one (though it was a little difficult to tell the yellow ult charge bar from the light background). Minor nits, but overall an exciting and engaging experience. Commentators and desk crew definitely worked the crowd and got so much excitement ramped up during the matches.

Super Fun and a Great Experience

by Ben on 5/1/19Allen Event Center - Allen

I've played Overwatch some, but wasn't exactly sure what to think of seeing an OWL event in person. It turned out to be an incredibly fun, and also incredibly well produced event! The energy in the crowd and the production value of the event made it seem like what I would expect from any other pro sporting event I would go to. We'll definitely be going back!

    Best weekend of my life

by Adeline on 5/1/19Allen Event Center - Allen

Apart from the blackout and quite confusing registration, everything else is perfect. Exceeded my expectation. Fans went wild and loud (in a good way). I met some of my OW squads online there. I flew from Houston for thie event. Simply one of the best weekends of my life. Video gaming teaches me a lot about friendships, love, skills, humanity, different perspective on worldview, and loyalty. Thank you OWL for pulling this off.

    Great Experience!

by Katie on 4/30/19Allen Event Center - Allen

I went with my brother, who is a huge Overwatch fan, and we both loved it. The atmosphere for the Battle of Texas was fantastic! We were only there for the last two matches but I felt like we got our money's worth. We were literally in the last row in the corner but still could see everything. The only thing that was hard to see was the countdown timer for each team. Parking was fairly easy and very close to the venue which was nice. We also like the selection of restaurants within walking distance after the event. We also loved all the free items given out before and when we entered the venue. It made it so my brother had something to wear and support the Fuel since he didn't have any jersey or shirt before attending. Overall a great event! I have been following the Fuel for a while but I became an even bigger fan after the Homestand Weekend. It made me more invested seeing the players and fans in real life rather than a stream. As a fan of both esports and "traditional" sports, I can honestly say the atmosphere and game was on par to a sporting event. The crowd was rowdy, the rivalry was fierce, and the players were so appreciative. Hope the Fuel does more of these events in the future!

    Exciting Experience

by Chestnut on 4/30/19Allen Event Center - Allen

Felt like traditional sports for an esports audience. Crowd was very excited. Only negative (kind of) was sound - hard to hear casters, or anything really. Might be preferable to offer earbuds to listen to the casting; some sports do that.

    Awesome Event!

by A. on 4/30/19Allen Event Center - Allen

Great event with tons of enthusiasm. I don't think there was a bad seat in the house so the venue was perfect.
