i have waited years to see covenant, and they didn't disappoint! need i say more?
The band had excellent showmanship, performed their songs with interesting variations on the recorded versions, and had an excellent sense of pacing and energy. They did careful, well-timed reveals of new material.
I'm glad to see more EBM bands playing locally. Covenant was good and didn't disappoint with their play list.
Well, I went to the show w/ high expectations and i was supremely underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, Covenant sounded good but there is definitely little soul in all that slick packaging. A "singer", 2 guys pretending to play keyboards, and a laptop doing the real work. A vocal range that anyone could do, no passion in the delivery, it almost put me to sleep. The venue was like maybe 3/4 empty which shows the lack of interest of seeing this kind of band live. It was kind of a downer as it felt like being at a highschool reunion that nobody really wanted to be a part of. The opening band was way better which was surprising. They actually felt like a BAND with a singer that SINGS and moves around. A bit over the top at times but at least he's putting himself out there. I would definitely watch platform 1 again. The only reason I'm giving this show a high 3 star rating is because of the opening band.
Covenant themselves were fantastic. They haven't lost a beat and sound just as good as on their first album. Closing the show out with a seriously hardcore version of Dead Stars capped off an already flawless show. Goes to show that somethings do indeed get better with age.
