    We've missed the Jazz Festival!

    by K. on 8/8/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

It's been years since the Concord Jazz Festival and we have truly missed it! This year we were a bit disappointed by Esperanza Spalding. She is a storyteller and poet but not a Jazz artist. We felt it took the evening in a completely different (unexpected) direction so we left. Sadly, we missed Dave Koz and Friends. Hopefully, in the future, ALL performers will be Jazz artists - which one would expect when attending a JAZZ festival.

    A Birthday Wish Come True

    by W. P. on 8/7/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

Attending the 50th Anniversary Concert was a birthday gift to my husband to celebrate him turning 70. We attended our first and only concert at the pavilion about 28 years ago (we live out of state) and had an amazing experience, so I wanted to return to the venue that gave us both such a wonderful memory. All these years later, we were not disappointed. This time around, I treated him (and me) to comfortable chairs 7 rows from stage center in the shade. My husband was truly delighted with our proximity to the performers! We simply had a terrific time and were blessed to be surrounded by other concert attendees whose company we really enjoyed. Our only disappointment was that our favorite artists didn't perform any of the music that we were familiar with; they chose their new releases only. Oh, well 😞. Thank you, Concord Pavilion team, everyone from the parking lot workers, restroom workers, elevator operator and ushers. You were all so friendly and helpful to us. My only suggestion would be to expand the handicap parking area or provide more shuttles. We had to park in the overflow and walk uphill a long distance, something that was very challenging for my husband. In the end, we returned home delighted with our experience and my husband’s birthday gift brought him much joy!

Great Seats, Music, Vibe however Food Service Sucks!

by coolwaterhotsand on 8/7/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

Paid for VIP to relax on the patio with a glass of wine and some food - there were tables, chairs and a food menu but guess what, no actual food (only alcoholic drinks)! Very strange, sort of defeats the purpose of paying for VIP. Waited in line at the concession stand for 40 minutes only to find out that they were out of several items or you had to wait another 20 minutes for items to be prepared. Missed a whole band set. Pretty bush league for a "first class" music venue. Don't mind overpaying for average food but to make customers wait 60 minutes for it is unacceptable. We would have eaten beforehand but this was a 7 hour event.

    Great jazz festival!

by BigD on 8/6/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

My first time at the Concord Jazz Festival. The Festival is run very well. Groups start pretty much on time. There was a good mix of artists from Chick Corea to the Count Basie Orchestra to Dave Koz and the Summer Horns! It was a long time sitting there from 4 pm to after 11 pm. So it seems like a concert rather than a festival which would be spread out with different stages and maybe go for two days. Only complaint is that the seats are not level. They’re set up on a slope so you’re sliding down. Uncomfortable for sitting for a long time. It was a great show though with world class musicians!

Best of the Best in Jazz

    by N. B. on 8/6/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

Every kind of jazz you could want - big band, Latin, progressive, cool, smooth, classic - wow! Over 6 hours of immersion from some of the biggest names and hot new talents. Thank you to Dave Koz and friends for pulling this all together. My only request is that you publish the performance schedule in advance so we can all plan our time better. Let's do it again! See you next year, if not before!

    Great sSow but Too Hot!

    by L. M. on 8/6/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

Whose idea was it to have a Jazz Festival @ 2:00 PM in an August afternoon???? My gal and I left before we could even see my favorite Sax man, Dave Koz!!! It was nearly 100 degree and just way too hot to try and enjoy jazz music when sweat is pouring down your face....and we were in the shade! Love to see this exact same effort spent in Spring or Fall!

Fabulous talent lineup - food services not so much

    by K. K. on 8/6/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

We were super impressed by the lineup for this year’s Concord jazz festival. One of the best jazz selections that we’ve ever seen and we’ve seen a lot! That being said the Concord Pavilion Food service was horrific. It took over 50 minutes in line to get an order and when you did get to the front of the line they were out of many of the food items and this was at 5 o’clock in the afternoon – the event went until 10 PM. The food itself was bad - corndogs and garlic fries. It’s a huge missed opportunity to be in the middle of the bay area gourmet food movement and have a venue serve this level of food at this kind of price with this kind of service. Food trucks would be a better option.

    Great headliners

by CJF Reviewer on 8/6/19Concord Pavilion - Concord

We love the Concord Pavilion venue and have for many, many years. Most experiences have been positive. The headliners and music were awesome; we can't say enough about the performances and the music. Everything about the concert was wonderful. We give absolutely no stars to the concession management. An hour in line for tacos? Really? After an hour, we finally get to the window and the person who takes orders leaves to go to the bathroom for 10 minutes, doesn't leave a key to the register for another agent to take orders. One order at a time? Really? Keep those tacos moving in the back! The food concessions failed miserably.
