Carolina Panthers Team History

The Carolina Panthers became the 29th National Football League franchise on October 26, 1993. They played their inaugural season in 1995, finishing 7-9 and setting an all-time best opening season record for an NFL expansion team. They also beat the San Francisco 49ers in their inaugural season, becoming the first expansion team to defeat a reigning Super Bowl champion in their first year of play.

Since their start, the Panthers have won six division titles, including three consecutive NFC South division titles from 2013-15 under coach Ron Rivera. The Panthers have made it to the playoffs eight times, winning two NFC Championships and appearing in the Super Bowl twice. Under coach Rivera, they made four playoff appearances in a five-year span from 2013–2017, tying Green Bay and Seattle for the most NFC playoff appearances during that time. In that five-year span, the Panthers recorded 51 wins, the most in any five-year period in franchise history, and tied for fifth-most in the NFL.

Their first Super Bowl appearance was in 2004 for Super Bowl XXXVIII, then Super Bowl 50 in 2016, following what was the Panthers’ most dominant season to date, going 15-1 with quarterback and MVP Cam Newton.

    Fan Fest

    by CP on 8/5/23

Fireworks show not as good as last year. Music selection was lacking- very limited demographic appeal. Need to include more rock from 80s and 90s like in prior years

    Hmnnnnn

    by LJones on 8/5/23

My family and I attend the Panthers Fan Fest every year. That being said....There was something missing this year. The crowd engagement MC didn't come out until it was time for the fireworks and he didn't work the crowd very long. The music in the stadium was so so. It wasn't tuned properly and didn't sound loud enough. I was in a lower level 100 section. (Row 8) The stadium improvements in the concourse are GREAT! I would have like to had more energy put into crowd participation. There weren't many T shirts thrown out and a T shirt Cannon would have been better. Let's get a t shirt Cannon in Sir Pur's paws next time.

    Way too much going on

    by Beck on 8/5/23

I don’t know why the Panthers feel they must distract fans from what’s going on on the field. There are some people who go to these events to actually enjoy the players, but one management insist on flooding all your senses every second it becomes a big overload. I left early Because of this. This is why people stay home and watch on TV.

Great tickets. In the end I don't believe I should've paid $100 for them ,but, tht was the best $100 I spent in a while. I love our Panthers anyway thus the light show was my cheesecake factory. Go Panthers and thank you ticketmaster for being legit because I'm that person that don't just trust this young folk technology yet in its entirety yet.

My family and I have been coming every year since we moved here. We really enjoy coming and is an awesome way to kick off the season. I just wish there were more crowd interaction and more fireworks during the light show.

    Lack of Entertainment

    by Resse on 8/5/23

I been going to Fan Fest since 2019. This one had lack of entertainment and engagement with the crowd. The Panther’s mascot was not present on the field. Very disappointed this year!!!

    Long lines

by Bruce on 12/27/22Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

Great stadium. Sat at top on 50 yd line and could see everything very well. Because of the cold the stadium was half filled but the concessions all had long lines. What would it be like when filled to capacity? Nope!

by David W on 12/27/22Bank of America Stadium - Charlotte

I think if we keep the head coach for the next 5 years we should have a better chance at getting a superbowl
