Braids Concert Schedule and Tour

Canadian art rock trio Braids makes expansive, immersive compositions awash in arpeggiated guitars, skittering drums, and ethereal vocals. At the band's live shows frontwoman Raphaelle Standell-Preston delivers her dynamic vocals with emotion and intensity, displaying incredible control as her voice leaps from subdued melodic passages to fiery yelps and playful yodels. Rounding out the band's unique shoegaze-influenced sound are multi-instrumentalist Taylor Smith and drummer Austin Tufts, whose skilled playing provides a mesmerizing, constantly shifting sonic foundation for Standell-Preston's otherworldly vocals. Whether Braids are playing early favorites like Lemonade or performing cuts off of 2015's Deep in the Iris, concert ticket buyers can expect a spellbinding concert experience featuring lush guitar tapestries, evocative melodies, and the band's understated yet powerful stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Braids was formed in Calgary in 2006 by a group of students at Western Canada High School. Soon after the band's formation frontwoman Raphaelle Standell-Preston won a songwriting contest hosted by the Calgary Folk Music Festival, which led to Braids' first major performance at the 2007 Sled Island Music Festival. The warm response they received there encouraged them to put off attending university to play music, and in 2008 they released their first EP Set Pieces. After relocating to Montreal the band began work on their debut album, which took shape over several years amid extensive touring. The result was 2011's Native Speaker, an auspicious collection of gauzy, guitar-drenched songs that drew high marks from critics and earned the band a nomination for Canada's prestigious Polaris Music Prize. Braids followed up in 2013 with Flourish // Perish, another critical success that incorporated more electronic elements into their typically organic sound. Following several years of touring the band returned in 2015 with their third album Deep in the Iris, generating major excitement among fans for their upcoming performances.

They have recently released their second album, Floruish II Perish, and are set to perform at several music festivals in the coming months. Don't miss your chance to catch them Braids live!
