BLK ODYSSY is the musical project of Austin, Texas-based artist Sam Houston. Born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, Houston made a name for himself as an Americana artist before relocating to Texas and incorporating more R&B and hip-hop aesthetics for his next solo endeavor as BLK ODYSSY. His debut album BLK VINTAGE arrived in 2021, and an expanded edition followed in 2022 featuring new collaborations with Benny The Butcher, George Clinton, and Baby Rose. DIAMONDS & FREAKS, the sophomore album from BLK ODYSSY, dropped in 2023 behind singles like “YOU GOTTA MAN” and “HONEYSUCKLE NECKBONE.” The project also contains joint tracks with Rapsody, Bootsy Collins, The Alchemist, KIRBY and more. The six-track LIVE FROM LA recording followed two months later.
