    a must concert

by thecitizenFromIL on 10/20/14Arts at the Armory - Somerville

went to this concert with not a lot of expectation. from the moment he went on the stage until the end i did not even look once at my watch . he was funny, interactive, sang beautifully mostly his sings but few songs of the pixies as well the venue, not the greatest in the world, there is a feeling of a church. but overall nice. small place with folding chairs in front of the stage. Reid Paley was playing at the beginning and at the end they played together and it was great finish to an amazing concert.

Everything Frank Black does is in my blood

by khbunny on 5/16/13The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

Best ever show. Just Frank and his guitar playing for 2+ hours, and positively every thing he sings sounds so perfect. Lots of Pixies tunes and lots of solo hits.

A true master of his craft, very well delivered. I am glad I was there to enjoy it.

    absolute perfection

by alysiavs on 10/27/11Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Third time seeing Black Francis and he did not disappoint. He played a ton of songs, lots of pixies, lots of his own stuff. Afterward, on his way out to pack the car with his crew he was kind enough to talk to me, take a pic, and sign a sign that I took down that said, "Black Francis is SOLD OUT tonight." great guy. a legend.

    Big fan, but not impressed

by humma62845 on 10/25/11Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I was really looking forward to seeing Black Francis. I'm a huge fan. I saw that this was going to be a solo act, so I thought how bad could it be? It's Black Francis for crying out loud. It's gotta be good. But it seems to me that he was playing his part on the guitar that he would have played with a full band filling in timing and chording around him. Glad I know the songs he played, otherwise I'd have been lost. I had a friend there with me who I was introducing to the Pixies/Black sound, and guess what? He was lost! He'd heard some of the songs, but couldn't fill in the gaps in his head. I was disappointed. I'd still go to see him play if he had his band, but I doubt I'd go to another solo act.

    Black Francis did not dissapoint

by EPRevere on 10/24/11Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I was unsure when I bought tickets if he would perform his solo material or a mix of solo material and Pixies songs. When he began with a blues rendition of "Nimrod Son" my question was answered. I had high expectations for this show and they were exceeded in every way.

    A Master

by tlinquist on 5/8/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

As always, Black Francis was awesome. So great to see a peak into the part of someone that most of us aren't able to tap into. Keep on crackin' Crackity Jones.

    Still rocks!

by Funkycrawdad on 5/8/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

Frank Black - cause calling him Black Francis just seems weird - put on a good solo show. Did a smattering of Pixies songs and some of his solo stuff. Crowd was into it. Vocal quality is still really good and blended well with his chords on the trusty Telcaster.
