    Venezuela

by S. on 3/20/19Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

The first :35 were beautiful, but we were all very angry when almost the exact same dance was performed for the next :35 with minimal lighting changes and new music. Much of the audience was frustrated as well. We almost walked out

    A stellar night of dance

by E. on 3/20/19Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

I love this company so much but I haven't seen them in 6 years because they don't come to LA very often. I jumped at the chance to get tix back in the fall and have been counting the days until the show. They did not disappoint. Such an incredible show- beautiful dancing, amazing athleticism, captivating choreography. Loved it so much I would've watched all over again immediately after!

    Need to See It Again!

by W on 3/19/19Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

I saw Batsheva Dance Company in New York about 15 years ago when they performed "Echad Mi Yodea," and was blown away--once again--by their performance last weekend. I would have gone back the next night if they'd had another show. I hope Royce Hall continues to host such innovative, high-quality dance in LA.

    An intense experience

by MarioT on 3/12/19Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Ohad Naharin and the whole Batsheva ensemble have shown during the years their commitment to innovation and intensity. Once again, with Venezuela, the dancers captivate our senses and transport us to a world of sensations, expressions they visualize with an exquisite and vivid performance on stage. Kudos for Batsheva!

not for the faint of heart

by regel1 on 11/6/14Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

This was a very challenging performance. While the dancers were incredible, Naharin's choreography & sound choices were very difficult to experience. He was too heavy handed w/trying to get his socio-political message across. He intended on challenging, agitating & devastating. It was very difficult to find the beauty in the performance. I wish he would've left it more abstract & let us draw our own conclusions. Also, some relief/lighter pieces to break up the more challenging ones, would have been appreciated.

    Batsheva Dance Company practices

by Marie888 on 11/4/14Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

This company's dancers while young demonstrated strength, ease and most important professionalism. They obviously rehearse, a lot. As well as take pride in their performance as their fierce attack of the moves with clear emotional engagement was a pleasure to observe versus the unsettling feeling one gets if the dancers are trying too hard due to lack of comfort with the material they're dancing. The company as a whole is what really is phenomenal. Lighting, costume, music…the entire pulsing company deserves recognition.
