Good drinks but not enough food

by JaeN on 1/26/24Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

I enjoyed the event but having been to many other Food and Wine events, I felt the Austin one did not have enough food options. It would have been nice to even have some food trucks there in case people were willing to pay for some food. The bites that were offered were fantastic, just no enough of them. I left the event hungry. I appreciated the water service but as a green city, bringing bottles in to refill should have been encouraged. I loved seeing all of the wine and liquor vendors and this is where the festival really shined. Much of the efforts and dollars seemed to have been spent here by the distributors or makers. If the same amount of resources could be spent towards the food portion of "Food and Wine Fest"this event would be worth the price for entry.

    Lines

by KP on 11/26/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

This event needs more than one entry point - waiting in a 2 mile long line with pre-paid tickets is ridiculous. Loved the ease of sampling drinks and the great variety of options for every type of beverage, but the food options were less than expected and anything substantial had extremely long lines. My group spent an hour or two sampling beverages and the odd small bite, before leaving to find a local restaurant to order food.

    great food and drink

by SSDATX on 11/10/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

this was my first experience after many years of not able to attend. I only went one day which was plenty for me. the food was great and the drink options were plentiful and satisfied all palettes. I appreciated the canned water options vs plastic bottles. There were times where I had to stand in line for food but that's totally understandable considering there's some prep time involved. the weather was perfect which made it even more enjoyable. Perhaps having live music would add to the atmosphere. Unless there was some and I totally missed it. We had to wait 20 min to get in but once the gates opened, it didn't take long to get thru the gates. I'll definitely attend again next year.

    Dissapointing

by LB on 11/9/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

My fifth year at the Austin Food and Wine Festival and this was a total let down. This is typically my favorite festival in Austin, but 2023 seemed water-downed. Day 1 we only arrived 30 minutes before gates open and due to ticket scanning vs. wristbands, we didn't get through the gates until 30 minutes after the event began. The next day was better because we showed up 45 minutes early and they started pre scanning people before they opened. Second, the number of restaurants who ran out early was higher than previous years. But what really surprised me where that multiple restaurants (La BBQ, Loros, etc.) Ran out within ONE to TWO hours of the event starting. To me that is unacceptable because all of the lines were long, you simply didn't bring enough product. Lastly, since so many vendors ran out early day 1, people learned on day 2 and hit the food lines hard from the beginning. Wait times for the lines were 5-20 minutes which is I have seen in previous years for some of the "new"and "exciting"restaurants, but not for the Hellmans or Taco Deli booth (they are both great just not what you would traditionally see lines for). Overall, the event felt oversold and underprepared. I don't know that I will go again or rave about it like I have in the past. It may just be yet another thing about Austin that I just no longer love.

    Classic Austin Fun festival

by Return attendee on 11/9/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

I took 8 friends to the festival and we all had a great time tasting and drinking. I suggest more seating tables and more food booths. The food and wine and cocktails that were there were delicious.

    Quality down

by NotImpressed on 11/9/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

This was my 7th (and final) Austin Food & Wine Festival. The quality of the festival has gone downhill drastically. I gave them the benefit of the doubt after having to bounce back from COVID, but it's been 3 years now. They clearly oversold the festival this year (other attendees, please feel free to elaborate on the line to get in). Once you finally get in after waiting in the line? Oh you'll wait more for tastings. 100% not worth the $275...I'd rather treat myself to a few quality restaurants over the weekend

Too much alcohol and not enough food!

by KE on 11/8/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

Need to better balance the number of restaurants with alcohol booths! Or give some food vendors.

    Out of Food?!?!

by Kim M. on 11/8/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

I love this festival but running out of food an hour and 15 minutes after opening the gates is so unacceptable. Was this planned??? So they could just walk around and enjoy the food too cause that was just planning. Other than that complaint, the festival was great!

    Mediocre at best.

by Wickinvail on 11/8/23Austin Food & Wine Festival at Auditorium Shores - Austin

For the price of the ticket relative to the offering, save your money. 10% of the food vendors were sold out/ empty by 2pm on Sunday. 50% of the beverages offered was not wine (Not interested in attending a Food & Wine event for margaritas, and I love tequila). The design of the event space had long lines criss-crossing over other long lines. Spread out! The staff were awesome. The weather was great. The bathrooms were plentiful. Just invite a better quality experience... or charge less.
