Atlanta Hawks History
The lineage of the Hawks dates to 1946, when the Tri-Cities Blackhawks played in the NBA's forerunner, the National Basketball League. They moved to Milwaukee in 1951, shortening their name, and then to St. Louis in 1955. They made the NBA finals four times in a five-year stretch, defeating the Boston Celtics to capture the franchise's only title in 1958.
After moving to Atlanta in 1968, the Hawks' postseason runs continued for five years, fueled by the likes of Pete Maravich, Lou Hudson and Walt Bellamy. In 1976, Ted Turner bought the team and installed Hubie Brown as coach, and by his second season, the team was again a playoff contender. The Dominique Wilkins era began in 1982, with "The Human Highlight Film" leading the team to four straight 50-win seasons beginning with the 1985–86 season.
The arrival of Dikembe Mutombo helped the Hawks continue to make postseason runs in the late 1990s, and the team notched 10 consecutive playoff berths starting in the 2007–08 season. During the 2021–22 regular season, All-Star point guard Trae Young led all of the NBA in total points (2,155) and total assists (737). During the postseason, the Atlanta Hawks went on an incredible playoff run, led by Young, that saw them advance to the Eastern Conference Finals where they lost to eventual NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks.

EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Family outing. Fun experience, except for traffic management outside of the arena. Granted, it was the day of the UGA v. GT football game, but that wasn’t a surprise. Needed to better prepare for the crowds.
NBA game 1000/10 its a whole vibe and always good to see the celebraties on the floor sidelines especially Boosie lol
Great seats better than I expected really, easy access!
As a former hawks member i enjoyed returning to the arena to see the team. I had a good seat. I wish the hawks played better because they could win! But they arent great with shooting the ball this season. I should get free tickets, and a chance to do sports talk. lol
Well, the Hawks lost and looked bad doing it. As usual, the Hawks promotions are all for the people in the lower bowl. During the Chick-Fil-A promo parachute drops, not a SINGLE one was dropped nor landed in the upper decks. Harry the Hawk never comes up the the upper decks. You take our hard-earned $$$, and then don't include us in your show. Shame.
the arena is beautiful and well positioned. But the drinks and food is expensive. the people and the staff are lovely and very friendly and helpful. But do feel that the prices of things were over the top, compared to my visit to the falcons stadium and prices. But hd a lovely time and well enjoyed the occassion
Had an amazing time at the game , I think crowd interaction was a little dull . The people who shoot the shirts need to acknowledge there are people at higher levels and would appreciate a shirt also!! They would also like to feel included in the games and viral content that goes on at the game. Upper levels can DANCE also!! Seats are tilted forward and uncomfortable like you’re gonna fall out .
I was a little underwhelmed by the experience of attending a Hawks game. My initial disappointment was realizing I paid nearly $50 to park in an area that surely shouldn’t have cost me almost $50(Ruby Lot). Not an attendant in sight after the game. Secondly, I’m a Senior(67 years old)and my wife is a State recognized disabled person. There were no recognizable sign(s) that pointed us to an elevator or escalator. Only steps and lots of them. Thank God we are still able to walk. Once we made our way to the gate to enter the arena, we were greeted with several of the most unpleasant gate attendants. Their demeanor/communication skills lacked the courtesy I’m accustomed to. So, in the end I/we will continue to support the Hawks but it will not be at State Farm Arena. Thank you for allowing to vent a bit of my frustrations with my experience of attending a Hawks game.
