About

Sammy Hagar and The Circle on Tour

In 2014, rocker Sammy Hagar formed supergroup The Circle with drummer Jason Bonham, guitarist Vic Johnson, and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. The following year, after the group released a live album and DVD, At Your Service, a successful run of explosive tours saw the band playing everything from Montrose and Van Halen covers to Led Zeppelin tracks.

In 2019, the group are releasing their first studio album of original material with Space Between, out May 10, followed by a North American tour from late April to mid-June. Hagar, sometimes called the Red Rocker, is known to put on a fiery show. With his band of seasoned professionals enjoying onstage camaraderie, fans can expect an electrifying setlist complete with songs from each era, as well as tracks from the long-awaited new album.

Sammy Hagar Background

Sammy Hagar was born in Salinas, California, in 1947 and shortly after moved to Fontana, where he was exposed to classic California rock. At an early age, Hagar started learning guitar and played in a number of bands. His first frontman gig came at age 14 with the Fabulous Catillas; at the same time, he played rhythm guitar and sang in the Johnny Fortune Band.

Hagar's first big break came with his work in the band Montrose, a group started by guitarist Ronnie Montrose, who'd previously done session work for Edgar Winter, Herbie Hancock, and Van Morrison. Montrose dropped their first album in 1973, and the self-titled work charted on the Billboard 200. Some have called the album America's first heavy metal record. The group's second LP, Paper Money, came out the following year, and it reached No. 65 on the Billboard 200.

After leaving Montrose, Hagar embarked on a string of solo albums, finding a new level of success with 1982's Three Lock Box, whose hit single "Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy" reached No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart. Hagar used his success to catapult his way into one of the decade's biggest rock acts, Van Halen, after vocalist David Lee Roth exited the group in 1985.

Hagar's first album with the band, 5150, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while single "Why Can't This Be Love" charted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock Tracks. The album went on to be certified 6x platinum. Between 1986 and 1995, Hagar would release four No. 1 charting albums with Van Halen.

    SUPER SHOW

by Happy Lee on 11/8/23The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St Augustine

This is one of my favorite shows ever top five George Thorogood and the Dstroyers are still BAD TO THE BONE even after over 50 years rockin. Sammy Hager and the Circle pull out almost all the stops all they need to do is get VIC to do a BUS BOYS number like minimum wage

    W.O.W!

by Hurricane on 11/5/23The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St Augustine

Only 5 stars, but needs more! Can’t believe we skipped out on this concert in previous years! It was like three amazing concerts in one…Sammy Hagar, Led Zeppelin, and Van Halen. I really appreciated how the band interacted with the audience like they were regular people too. What an incredible night!?! I would absolutely love to see the show again, and definitely will in the future. Don’t miss out on this awesome experience! Easily one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to in all of my life and I have seen many in my time!

    Rocking the Full Moon

by DJ on 11/3/23The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St Augustine

Sitting under the full moon with a cool breeze in the night air, Sammy Hagar completed the dream! Best night out in years. Sammy was generous with his tequila, wore fans clothing, and signed autographs his entire set. Those in the front row were some happy, lucky people. What a great venue and I've lived in Daytona Beach my whole life, 65 years, and this was my first time there. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see another fabulous show there! George Thorogood was babababad to the bone as well!

    Hagar and the Amp Rock

by Florida Guy on 11/1/23The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St Augustine

The Saint Augustine Amphitheater (The Amp) continues to be a first class act. The venue when coupled with great artists, is the place to me. It was no different on October 26th when George Thorogood and Sammy Hagar & the Circle performed to an almost sold out crowd. The performances were great and a credit to each of these "Rockers"and their band mates. Had to be one of the best shows I have seen in many decades. Sammy and the Circle were simply magnificent; great musicians who still know how to out on a first class show. Thanks for a great evening to these 70+ old artists and their bands. Spectacular.

    Favorite Concert Venue!

by FL Pony Girl on 10/31/23The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St Augustine

Each time we attend a concert, we say: Why do we go any other place than here for Concerts?! Best venue around! Great food & cocktail vendors located all over the facility, so you don't have the long congested lines. Restrooms are clean and located all over the place. My only "complaint"would be that the seating (under the canopy area, anyway; not sure if it's better in the open area sitting) is that the seats are tight, close together...and I'm a small person saying this. But if you're a group with a few 6' 2 guys like my husband, I'd almost purchase one extra seat to be able to spread out a little. Hoping at some time down the road, they will address this issue. But still, the Energy & Ambience of this Incredible Outdoor Facility is THE BEST!!
