Scott Helman In Concert
He may have signed his first major-label development deal with Warner Music Canada at age 15, but Scott Helman has always exuded an old soul. Like fellow Toronto-area sensation Shawn Mendes, Helman has taken great strides to prove he's not just another teen-pop phenom, but rather a serious singer/songwriter with designs on becoming a career artist. After workshopping his material under the tutelage of seasoned song doctors like Simon Wilcox and Thomas "Tawgs" Salter, Helman issued his debut EP, Bungalow, in 2014, when he still just 19 years old. The EP's lead single "Bungalow" showcased his instant mastery of the stadium-sized, foot-stomping roots-rock sound popularized by Mumford and Sons in the early 2010s, with the song hitting the Top 40 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 chart and earning Helman a nomination for Best Pop Video at the 2015 MuchMusic Video Awards. That year, he embarked on his first American and European tours opening for the anthemic roots-pop outfit Walk Off the Earth. Helman also proved he could hold his own against steely alt-rock veteran Matthew Good on a cross-Canada tour together. (Always one to pay respect to his elders, Helman has covered songs by Leonard Cohen, Alanis Morissette, and The Tragically Hip over the course of his career.) After scoring Juno nominations for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year, Helman proved he was no flash-in-the-pan with the release of his first full-length album, HĂ´tel de Ville, in 2017. Stacked with winsome alt-folk serenades ("21 Days") and ecstatic synth-pop confections ("PDA"), the record racked up three Juno Award nominations (Songwriter of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, and the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year). Following a summer 2018 Canadian tour with Vance Joy, Helman resurfaced that fall with the slinky single "Hang Ups," which sees the influence of modern R&B seeping into his heart-on-sleeve songwriting.

He was so much better live. I only knew 4 of his songs beforehand. I couldnât listen to the other ones because they were so terrible. When he played them live it was incredible.
This is my second time seeing Scott Helman and it was incredible. The energy was soooo awesome, everyone was so happy to see Scott back in Toronto. Itâs something Iâll never forget! Canât wait for the next show.

Scotty has the best stage presence ever! He gets so into his songs and itâs so lovely to see. He gives nothing short of an amazing show. He will talk with you in between songs & gets the audience involved with him. He is so humble with a beautiful and magical voice. This was my 2nd time seeing him in a week. His band is also just pure gold! If Scott has time, he comes out to talk to the fans & take pictures! Sweetest and cutest dude ever!

For some reason, decible levels were off the charts. This really wasn't music...couldn't hear singing or certain instruments well at all. Do your ear drums a solid and avoid like the plague.
I loved Scott Helman! The energy of his band was amazing. I would see again EVERY time he came to Calgary!! I LOVED Ria Mae!!!!!!!!!! I am NOW just a HUGE FAN of every single song! I would see her again anytime she comes to Calgary - or I would TRAVEL to nearby cities to see her live again and again. She should be a HUGE STAR right NOW! VENUE staff were outstanding - the service could NOT have been better. I wish there had been 100 more people enjoying this concert.
