    Finntroll and Metsatoll Are Incredible!

    by MNK13 on 12/10/13Masquerade - Atlanta

This was the first concert that I had legitimately wanted to attend without people inviting me or getting tickets for me. I both knew and liked all of Finntroll's songs so I could be fully vested in the performance. The first act began with Metsatoll, whom I had not heard of prior to their performance. They focused on playing traditional-themed symphonic metal along with one of their members constantly switching between several traditional instruments that were similar to a bagpipe, double flute, fiddle, and acoustic guitar. I was thoroughly impressed by their material and I have added them to my music repertoire. Blackguard, another band I did not know, came up next. I felt they turned up their speakers way too loud, so I was unable to actually hear their music. What I did hear sounded like generic screamo metal, which wasn't really my thing. The lead screamer was very energetic, which was fun to watch at least. Many people seemed to be at the show just for them, however, so I'm not too worried about it. Finntroll finally came up after some people went for a meet-and-greet. Their speakers were much lower than Blackguard's, which allowed the audience to hear all of the parts properly. The crowd was much more lively for this main event than it had be for the previous bands. There were several brief moshpits during some songs, often encouraged by the band, but the pits were localized and only lasted about one minute each so participation was completely optional. I really enjoyed seeing a band play that I regard as one of my favorites. If you have an opportunity to and enjoy the folk metal genre, I would highly recommend seeing Finntroll (and/or) Metsatoll play.

It was an awesome show, nice bands nice audience. Heard Metsatoll for the first time and bought all their CDs, and as usual Finntroll is just amazing! Was only a short distance from the band.

Great show, but would prefer it was 21+

by Leyelei on 2/20/11Station 4 - Saint Paul

Small Venue, 16+ show, would prefer an adult only showing. Got to meet the bands for moderately priced VIP tickets.

We all had fun at the Twilight Tavern!

by Oburketron on 2/11/11Galaxy Theatre - Santa Ana

This show was amazing!!! I saw it at the Galaxy theater in Santa Ana and I did not regret going. Two local bands opened named Deception and Helsott. Deception was okay, but it wasn't really the style of the people who were there to see the Finnish metal tour. Then, Helsott came out and rocked the house. They had a lot of passion and were really pumped up which made them stand out. As for Barren Earth and Rotten Sound, I was not very impressed. The guitarist and bassist of Barren earth were phenomenal, but the singer was just sort of there. Rotten sound had a lot of energy and punch to their music, but I didn't really care for it personally. It was almost just a chord fest with very little melodic overtones like most of us were there to see. Now for the headliners, Ensiferum was just amazing. As soon as they started playing we were all electrified and so into it and they sounded so good. There were so many of us on the floor that I may actually be a father in 9 months LOL. Ensiferum really put on an amazing show and played everything very well. I'm a huge Petri fan even from his time with Norther. Finntroll was awesome as well. The sound wasn't as good as Ensiferum, but overall it was still fantastic. The guitarist from Finntroll, specifically Routa, was a blast to be in front of. He was so pumped up and was pumping us up the entire length of his performance. It was a fantastic experience to be able to see the Finnish metal tour and I am extremely happy that I got to see my favorite band, Ensiferum, perform. I know it must be rough for them going from playing stadiums in Europe to playing small clubs in the U.S. so I really respect that they came here. Thanks Ensiferum and Finntroll!!!!

    Real Metal from Finland!!

by Vikingmetalwarrior on 2/2/11Firestone Live - Orlando

Super fun European Metal!! Great venue! The Euro's really know how to do Metal. Unlike the U.S., Metal has continued, and flourished since the 80's. It really shows, the musicianship, and showmanship were the excellent. They really know how to make it fun for for everyone. The audience was totally into the bands, singing, and chanting, fists raised, continuously, throughout the entire night. If you have never seen Metal from Europe, you are missing out. These guys were AWESOME!! Also, the Firestone is a great place to see a show, main floor, or the multiple tiers give many great viewing possibilities. There isn't a bad seat in the house!

The show was terrific. The opening band was "Nation Against The Opressor; who were pretty good, actually; although their audio quality was muddy as hell. Barren Earth was amazing, with better sound. Now, both Ensiferum and Finntroll were AMAZING! So much energy was in the room that night, so some of the credit should be awarded to the crowd also!

    Ensiferum is amazing

by EnsiferumIsTheBest on 2/2/11Firestone Live - Orlando

Basically I only came to this show to see ensiferum and they did not dissapoint. Seemed like a lot of others did the same because after ensiferum a lot of people left, fintroll just sounded mediocre at best. Ensiferum is always epic and awesome to see.
