Wow... what a Show !! First off, opening act "Sons of Hippies" was a pleasant surprise of ear tantalizing sound. They truly made their Parents proud with their funky lead singer/guitarist leading the way.
Nektar was FANTASTIC, playing an incredibly tight set of their classic complicated arrangements.... with Original Guitarist & Keyboardist & Drummer sounding better than ever (as good, or better than the 2 shows i experienced at the Capitol theater in the mid 70's when they were in their "prime"). And the fill-in Bassist was also flawless in matching the energy & expertise of the Original Members. The Show was freaking GREAT, bringing Nektar back to the forefront of cutting edge eclectic Rock with older & newer songs. Bands today just can't write or play at this caliber. Anyone with a chance to see/hear Nektar LIVE, must take the opportunity before these Wizards get too old to tour & play any longer. The Drummer was worn out by the end of their 80 minute set; but he never missed a beat in keeping up with the other 3 playing aggressively, ferociously, incessantly....
i am so glad i brought my 3 adult sons to experience Nektar live. They conveyed to me their Jealousy for having grown up in the era that produced such GREATS as NEKTAR. They were simply brilliant...... The only spoiler of the night was the anti-climactic nature of WishBone Ash coming on as the "HeadLine" Act AFTER Nektar tore the place up.. No Band could have followed that Act. I actually felt bad for them trying to entertain the crowd - who was spent from Nektar's Set. By then, most people had left.... Nektar was still playing in my head when WishBone Ash was performing. Nektar was truly SPECTACULAR.....!!!!
