Noel's at the top of his game
by Lilo on 7/18/23Incredible show. The new album is probably his best yet and the crowd was really into it. Nothing like hearing everyone singing Oasis' hits together, it was magical. Who needs Liam.

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS IN CONCERT:
Following the 2009 dissolution of pioneering Britpop band Oasis, primary songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher didn't give fans any time to lament his split from brother and longtime collaborator Liam. Instead he hit the ground running with his solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, a harder-edged continuation of his work with the late great band. Since then Noel has proven himself quite the frontman, impressing audiences around the globe with rollicking performances of tunes like "Dream On" and "Do the Damage". He throws in a few classic Oasis numbers like "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Supersonic" for good measure, ensuring fans both old and new get to rock out to their favorite jams.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Noel Gallagher was born and raised in Manchester, England, where he had a fairly turbulent childhood. He picked up the guitar in his teens as a way to pass time while on probation for robbing a corner shop, imitating the songs he heard on the radio before moving on to songs of his own. He was expelled from high school at 15 and worked various construction jobs before striking up a friendship with Manchester band Inspiral Carpets and joining them as a roadie. Upon returning from the group's US tour he joined his brother Liam's band The Rain, a psych-tinged rock outfit that would eventually become Oasis. Noel and Liam made their debut as Oasis in 1994 with the album Definitely Maybe, a critical and commercial success that topped the UK Albums charts and spawned four popular singles. Their sophomore album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was an even bigger smash, topping charts around the world thanks to instant classics like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova". All told, the band reached No. 1 in the UK with all seven of their albums before long-simmering fraternal tensions drove the brothers apart in 2009. Noel lost little time continuing his rock reign -- in 2010 he formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing a self-titled debut album to the top of the British charts the following year. With their sophomore album Chasing Yesterday generating buzz in 2015, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their next round on the road.

Incredible show. The new album is probably his best yet and the crowd was really into it. Nothing like hearing everyone singing Oasis' hits together, it was magical. Who needs Liam.
I had GA ticket and just loved the venue! All 3 bands were great! I traveled from Montreal and just had an amazing night. Y'all Live forever!
Garbage, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and Metric all sounded fantastic for this show in the MGM arena by Fenway Park. Great evening. The venue is nice and new, and the climate control was a sigh of relief given the humidity we've had this year in our area. I will say the venue should offer tap water free of charge, and the staff were at times difficult to find as finding our seat was confusing. If you go to any show at MGM, drink some water before you arrive or you'll end up paying $6+ for a can of water.
its good keep on working noel. Great tune remind me of the nice summer time in 90d when I was a teenager in my past life
This show was absolutely amazing did not disappoint. Look forward to his next tour
I saw Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds when they co-headlined with Garbage and had Metric as a special guest to open the show. All three bands were awesome, Noel was my favorite though. I have been an Oasis fan for a long time, and it was awesome to sing along to Don't Look Back in Anger. I also really enjoyed hearing the new songs from the Council Skies album. I had a great time, and I would definitely do it again. The venue I went to, Merriweather Post Pavillion, in Columbia, MD was also great and well organized.
Have now seen Garbage 4x — always amazing live performance. This was 1st time seeing Noel Gallagher — he was surprisingly good & even squeezed in some Oasis songs. Opener Metric were excellent too!! Great night!!
This was my first time at Merriweather Post Pavilion. My only major complaint was the parking situation, which was very confusing. There were signs for parking way across the street from the venue which was at the mall across the street from the venue. There were also signs saying that you could not park at the mall. Other than that and the long walk to the venue, I enjoyed the bands and the staff was very friendly.
First time seeing Noel Gallagher in Michigan. Wasn’t really into Oasis, so really was going to this show for Metric & Garbage. Noel’s new music sounds great. After the concert, listened to his new album & it’s really good. Wish his concert was more of his solo work, less Oasis. But I understand that’s what fans of the old band probably want to hear.
Metric was good even though I’ve never heard of them. Garbage was great. They rocked hard. Noel was good also. I was hoping to hear more Oasis songs but wasn’t expecting too. Overall great night
I was really excited to see the opening band Metric more than anything. When looking up the show. It said doors open at 5:30 PM, show starts at 7 PM. Mike Tripp and I arrived at 6:55 and as we were walking up we could hear metric playing. Turns out in Metric started at 6:45 PM and we missed the first 15 minutes of the set. Was very bummed about that, watched garbage. Left after garbage.
Always special to see Noel and the HFB! It was a special night. Loved seeing him at Merriweather that night. Metric and garbage were a nice addition too, brought out the 90’s alt rock crowd and put up a great show. I hope they continue to tour the US - I love his solo work and it’s a treat to watch him perform anytime he comes to the US!
Noel Gallagher delivered a solid performance. I think some in the audience were expecting him to only play the mega hits of Oasis, but the first half of his set featured songs from Council Skies and other solo album. All came through in solid way. The only song the technically didn’t work for me was AKA What a Life. He and bass player sang at the same time and washed each other out. I also could have done without the Mighty Quinn song from Bob Dylan and instead have another solo song (Revolution Song, Freaky Teeth or Ballad of the Mighty I) all of which would have hit home. Aside from that a great set.
In a word…PERFECTION ❤️ Noel Gallagher is and always will be the greatest!!
One of the best shows I’ve been to in a long time!! Great music! Great crowd!!
I love Noel Gallagher and this concert didn’t disappoint. A good mix of new and older classic Oasis songs, most of which were b-sides (which I love). Great band, great voice, I only wish his set was longer (co-headlining with Garbage cuts both of their sets to about an hour).
Good balance of new and old material! Sound was great!!
garbage should’ve benn the headliner noel was boring
Excellent performances, sound and the staff did great but IT WAS TOO CROWDED, if the organizers want to make more money they can use a bigger venue, it was imposible to get back to your place if you needed to use the bathroom or to get a drink.
I enjoyed the show…but really wish we would have heard more from Noel and the band. They were just incredible. No theatrics but awesome music and musicianship. Garbage and Metric were good…really enjoyed their energy. Shirley was terrific. But it is an odd combination of performers which created an eclectic mix of people in the audience from female grunge rockers to middle aged pop and rock fans to teenagers. Created an atmosphere where some fans waited 3 hours for NGHFB and other fans were done/left before even Noel came onstage. I hope he does a tour where he is the headliner.
