Rare treat to see Juana Molina while in L.A.

by V001 on 9/18/18Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Juana Molina's music really is impossible to define. It's for those who like a challenge and some creativity in pop. On stage, the group improvises and takes it to another level. I don't think she plays in the U.S. that often, so it was a rare treat.

Juana is a delight, but the mix ruined it

by abgtr on 9/17/18Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Mix was awful--all pounding bass, no balance, just punishing BOOM. I love Molina's music but it was not given a decent chance--it was a torture tunnel. We left early.

    Juana Molina is

by PriorArt on 10/6/17Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Juana Molina is fantastic. She's wryly humorous yet generous as an artist. Her connection with the audience is genuine - even blowing a kiss for my video of the last song. She mixes uncertainty with rhythm to make her music persist poignantly in your mind for many days. Indeed, the two musicians who accompanied her performed seamlessly. It was my first time at the venue which is very good. It is small enough to be intimate and it has three bar areas and a back room. Service was great.

    This woman is a gift

by DanPantz on 4/17/14The Sinclair - Cambridge

After falling in love with Juana Molina's music listening exclusively to her studio albums, I went into the show thinking, "This is gonna go down one of two ways... it'll either be amazing, or terrible... there'll be no in-between." I'm thrilled to report that she truly was AMAZING live. It was one of the best shows I've seen in a while, and after the 1st encore (which is more or less a given), the crowd wouldn't let her get off the stage and demanded a 2nd, and she obliged. The energy in the room was electric and you could tell she was thrilled, perhaps even overwhelmed. Can not wait until she comes around again, and you can be sure I'll be bringing many friends along, whether they think they'll like it or not.
