THE KILLS IN CONCERT:

Indie duo The Kills let fans know what theyĂre all about from the second they take the stage clad in leather jackets: theyĂre ready to kick out their lo-fi tunes with a dangerous edge and tons of rock ĂŤnĂ roll swagger. Sneering frontwoman Alison Mosshart oozes pure mojo as she pounds out power chords and whispers her seductive vocals into the microphone. Guitarist Jamie Hince jumps in to deliver cutting lead lines while dancing around and conjuring bizarre sound effects from his overdriven amplifiers. They combine these hard-hitting elements with robotic drum machines to drive explosive rockers like ĂŹNo WowĂŽ and ĂŹTape SongĂŽ with an insistent groove. But they can also slow the tempo on ballads like ĂŹBlack BalloonĂŽ and ĂŹRodeo TownĂŽ to add a melancholy bent without losing their riveting edge. In either case, each rough-and-tumble gem The Kills play on stage will leave ticket buyers breathless and begging for more.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer/guitarist Alison Mosshart first caught guitarist Jamie Hince playing a solo show when she was touring England in 2000 with her Florida-based punk band Discount. The two traded ideas through the mail for a couple years before Mosshart relocated to London in 2002 and the duo released their debut EP Black Rooster. The Kills built on the EPĂs success the following year with their first full-length album Keep on Your Mean Side. The unique lo-fi sound of the group caught the attention of The Raconteurs frontman Jack White, who invited them on tour. The increased exposure helped them become indie darlings with the release of critically adored albums like No Wow (2005) and Midnight Boom (2008). Both members continue to split their time between The Kills and side projects, such as MosshartĂs collaboration with Jack White in The Dead Weather. But fans remain eager to see what thrilling new sounds The Kills cook up both at their raucous live shows and on their highly anticipated fifth album.

    Went for Heartworms

by Lucky on 3/19/24Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

We went for Heartworms, who were better than expected. They were *way* too loud, but that’s just shows these days. Kills were great, but we only stayed a few songs.

The Kills are really bad live

by Not a Kills fan on 3/18/24Ace of Spades - Sacramento

I did not like it. Too much distortion for me that drowned out the leads singer's vocals. I'm not into garage rock. Every song sounded like he same.

    Horrible Sound

by Myoceansoul on 3/17/24The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Wiltern is iconic LA treasure but sound quality for The Kills was very distorted and Muddy. So distorted Allison singing sounded horrible except for really low volume chill trackssongs like Black Balloon. Like The Kills added some backup singers but sound was still so horrible the quality was lost in the mix

    The Kills at the Wiltern

by Joey Mccrystal on 3/17/24The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The Kills are the coolest band I have ever seen live. It was a blast. The Wiltern is a magical theater being built in the 30s, and I can’t wait to return. The opening band was a lot of fun too (never got their name). I have to see The Kills again and can’t wait for it. They are truly an underrated band that does Not get the recognition they deserve. They have influenced so many people and changed the sound of music. There is no body like them.

    They Kills-ed it!!!

by UberApe on 3/15/24House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

The Kills are the best rock duo since the The White Stripes, period end of story. Dexter Romweber is looking down from Heaven nodding with approval.
