About

Amos Lee was born Ryan Anthony Massaro on June 22, 1977 in Philadelphia and graduated an English major from the University of South Carolina. After graduation, he worked as a teacher and bartender as he pursued a career as a singer-songwriter, and scored a record deal from Blue Note Records after his manager submitted his demo. He toured with labelmate Norah Jones and Bob Dylan, and then on his own before recording his self-titled debut album in 2005, showcasing his unique fusion of folk, jazz, and rock, anchored by his sophisticated songwriting and soulful voice. The following year, Lee released his sophomore effort Supply and Demand featuring the single "Shout Out Loud", and put out his third album Last Days at the Lodge in 2008, diversifying his instrumentation and enhancing his neo soul sound. In 2011, his fourth studio album Mission Bell debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with appearances by Lucinda Williams and Willie Nelson, and featured his hit single "Windows are Rolled Down". In recent years, Lee has captivated tickets owners in concert with Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, and Adele, and he just released his folky, country-tinged fifth album Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song in October 2013, recorded in Nashville with vocal support from Alison Krauss and Patty Griffin.

    Best Concert Experience

by Renae on 10/18/23Old National Centre - Indianapolis

I have seen Amos several times in concert and this by far was the best most personal experience of all time. His solo acoustic performance showcased his voice and his talent in such an amazing way. He is so talented and the meaningful emotion in his music was felt by all. It was literally a spiritual experience. 5 stars. I am blessed to have been at this show.

    The Amosity of it all!

by SlimPugVinyl on 10/17/23Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Fantastic voice, range, control, falsetto, humor, storytelling, poignancy, and more. Amos held the stage for 2hrs (and amidst a silly batch of fans here and there who gave all their main character energy). Amos has talent and heart in spades. Love his music, his romantic realism and empathetic presence.

    Amos Lee in Illinosis

by nettyfoofoo on 10/13/23Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts - Bloomington

Amos is always good! Seeing him alone was very good. I've been able to go to his concerts in the west and the midwest, including @ the Vogue in Indianapolis. Always a good show.

True talent and love of performing!

by Cathy on 10/13/23Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts - Bloomington

Amos Lee is an amazing vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and performer! In addition to what he offers as a musician, he comes across as genuinely grateful to be sharing his music and connecting with his audience. For someone with such a unique, virtuoso voice, he relates to his audience in a humble, authentic, fun way.

    Wonderful, Wonderful

by Binnie on 10/11/23Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

I listen to Amos Lee quite often and love his music, however, I’d never heard him in concert. I’m so glad I did! He was one of the most engaging, entertaining musicians I’ve ever heard and I’ve been to many concerts! He took request from the audience which did get a little out of hand in my opinion. People should look at the set list before going to a concert then they’d know if the song they want to hear is going to be played. Amos Lee has a phenomenal voice with an amazing range. He has a unique talent that I’m so glad he shares! I would go to any future concert he has here!

He Always Amos to Please :)

by BW Des Moines on 10/10/23Hoyt Sherman Place - Des Moines

I’ve seen Amos Lee twice before and, while the other shows were great, this was the best so far. Just Amos and his guitar (and some Mutli!) was spectacular. It was the best way to hear his terrific voice and range. There was so much interaction with the audience and he played a lot based on audience requests. Wish I could just follow him on the rest of the tour!
