Anthony Hamilton Background

Before getting his Grammy and churning out hits like "Charlene" and "Can't Let Go," Anthony Hamilton started singing from a young age and got his start in the church choir. Hamilton was born on January 28th, 1971, and is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina -- a core influence of his Southern neo-soul musical style. Hamilton also draws his musical influences from R&B greats, including Michael Jackson. After moving to New York City in the 1990s and moving between record labels, Hamilton finally created a name for himself with his fourth album in 2003, which featured the musical hit "Charlene." Hamilton's influence extends beyond music into the public sphere through his speaking and advocacy opportunities as a CASA spokesperson, which allows him to raise awareness about the foster care system.

    Always a good show

    by Economic traveler on 4/13/24

I visited from FL to the chartwsy arena VA show with Leela James. I always love Anthony's concert and this wasn't any different except I'm not sure why they didn't perform together when they have a song together and the stage sound was off.... too loud, kind of drowning out the artist. Show started late but I expect that, but it's always nice to see a crowd of grown and sexy people coming together over music. I will go see him again!!!

    A little disappointed

by Sunshine on 4/9/24Bruton Theatre - Dallas

Anthony Hamilton put on a great show as always, but he could have had a local group to open up for him then we wouldn't have focused on him being a 1 hr and 10 minutes late with a curfew, so he didn't get to preform some favorites

    Not impressed

by Renee J on 4/8/24Bruton Theatre - Dallas

I was not impressed with the performance. He started over ah hour late so many of us lost interest. There was NO opening acts and the mics were horrible. The DJ they had before was lame too…. I will rather just listen to his music on radio or stream

    Great voice, terrible performance.

by Lost a Fan on 4/8/24Bruton Theatre - Dallas

I spent $300 and only heard 3 popular songs. Playing them would've made up for starting an hour late. So many in my section were baffled and remember his past performances. He even asked what do want to hear. Then said send me the lyrics and I'll sing it. No. Dude go watch New Edition where they take touring and their fans seriously.

    Anthony Hamilton in Dallas

by Mandy on 4/8/24Bruton Theatre - Dallas

Anthony Hamilton sounds just like he does on the radio. He got intimate with crowd and is a great performer. However, he started an hour after the show was supposed to begin. The sound in the theatre wasn’t great and the band sounded louder them him most of the time, so it was hard to hear what he was saying.

Love Anthony Hamilton but this concert.....

by Concert Fein on 4/8/24Bruton Theatre - Dallas

I am a huge fan of Anthony Hamilton. I go to see him anytime he comes to a city near me. I'll go see him one day with a friend and if another wants to see him the next day, I'll go (that's how much I love him)!!! In fact, I saw him in Dallas this past Sat and will see him in GA this upcoming Sat since I'll be traveling to AL and another girlfriend wanted to go see him (so we'll be driving over to GA). I've seen his shows where he SANGS all of his hits and just gives us everything in a show. This time, however, he did sing but he didn't give us but a few of his hits and then paid tribute to other artists such as Luther Vandross. While that would be a great addition to his show, if he still sang his hits as well. I didn't like it as a replacement of singing his hits. And the show was supposed to start at 8PM (which we got there early to make sure we had time to park and take care of our "personal needs"and were in our seats by 7:30PM. However, he did not grace the stage until 9:20PM. This would have been OK had he still given us a show that lasted at least until 11. We were out of there by 10:30 which means he was done by 10:20 or so. This was not like the past shows. I guess I was expecting the Anthony I'm accustomed to seeing. I hope that this is not his new normal but instead maybe a promotional package deal concern. When I pay to see an artist (and mind you we pay to be on the floor to be up close and personal), I want to see/hear the artist perform their hits, please and thank you!!! If not, advertise as such...EX: Anthony Hamilton Pays Tribute to Other Legends (or something). That way I won't expect Anthony Hamilton to pay tribute to Anthony Hamilton.
