Miki Missed the Mark
by Maria J. on 7/15/19The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitThe concert was as to be expected in terms of Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers. Their music will stand the test of time. The rhythm and timing was off, but both artist are nearing 80. Miki on the other hand, terrible stage presence, vulgar language, off key, etc. Two of her greatest hits - Love Under New Management & Ain't Nobody Like You - she didn't even perform!! A lady from the audience, with great vocal range, upstaged Miki TWICE and sent her (Miki) walking off stage in defeat. If you're coming to Detroit and singing Aretha's Until You Come Back to Me at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre (formerly Chene Park), you better bring it!!! Not sure if Miki had been drinking or just enjoying the warm breezes from the Detroit River, but her set was a mess!
