THE FAMILY STONE IN CONCERT:

During an era of injustice and inequality, living legends the Family Stone broke down barriers with their psychedelic funk and powerful lyrics. With original founding members Cynthia Robinson, Gregg Errico, and Jerry Martini as part of the lineup, the band performs Sly and the Family Stone hits like "Everyday People" and "Dance To The Music" with the same enthusiasm as they did in the ‘60s and ‘70s. The Family Stone and friends always have fans coming out in droves to their thrilling performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Family Stone consists of funk-soul icons from Sly and the Family Stone, a legendary band that defied pop culture with their racially mixed lineup. During their prime the group played a pivotal role in the music of the '60s and '70s with their expansive collection of hits, which included three No. 1 albums and three No. 1's on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts. Embodying the sound that defined an era of radical social change, Sly and the Family Stone influenced other iconic acts like Michael Jackson and The Temptations and were heard by hundreds of thousands of fans in attendance at the monumental Woodstock festival in 1969. Today the band includes original founding members and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson, and Gregg Errico. The Family Stone carry on the legacy of Sly and the Family Stone when they take ticket buyers higher and higher on their hit-filled tours.

    Family Stone at Evangeline Downs

by growlerhill on 1/24/19Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino - Opelousas

I had a front row seat. Easy to watch everyone on the stage, and the music wasn't too loud. All of the musicians were excellent, and the music had no lulls. I was amazed how fluid the music was, barely any stops between songs. It was a time to clap hands and dance from the beginning of the show until the end. Eighty minutes flew by.

    A visit to the past!

    by I. D. on 1/23/19Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino - Opelousas

Having been to many concerts, I can honestly say this was one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in a long time. The show started late because of the football game, which was fine, but it was rescheduled to start at 7:00 and it did. The show lasted an hour and a half, which was longer than expected for such reasonablely priced tickets. The group came out and played all of the oldies we had come to hear, and that did not disappoint. For just a while, I envisioned being nineteen again! Wonderful night! I would gladly go back to see them again.

    Great performance!

    by Babette222 on 9/25/18Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

Have always loved the songs of Sly and the Family Stone and the current band sure knew how to deliver those songs just like 'back in the day.' They say that rock and roll keeps you young, and that's definitely true of the saxophonist and drummer. Amazing! The lead singer had a fantastic voice with quite the range and intonations...and was multi-talented instrumentally as well. The guitarists and second keyboard player were also very talented. As a group, they get the audience engaged and on their feet, dancing and singing. Shows like this at such a reasonable price are such gems!

    Family Stone

    by Letsgotoashow on 9/25/18Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

Since the best seats were only $35.00, I can't complain too much but it's not much better than a cover band performing at your local VFW on a Friday night after the fish fry. The drummer and the sax player are the only "originals" from Sly and the Family Stone originals and they made it worth going to see. Sly's daughter (Phunne Stone) did back-up singing mostly and wasn't quite always on key. The venue was nice, clean and comfortable and I'd go there again, just not to see the Family Stone.

Chandler Center for the Arts has great concerts and they get better each year, it's a great place, friendly people and close to my house : ), The Family Stone was great, although missing Sly, they did a fabulous job without him! I would recommend anyone to see this concert!!

    Entertaining

    by Motormouse1 on 8/15/15Chene Park - Detroit

Entertaining show. The Stone band was good but Cynthia was missing and the vocals weren't solid. Nice hearing the Stones Music but it felt like something was missing. Maceo Parker gave a good show but I would like to have heard a few more James Brown licks. All in all it was a pretty good show but try to get it at a discount.

Of course without Sly it was a different vibe but to have 3 Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and Sly's daughter up there singing and playing their hearts out was fabulous! Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson and Greg Errico killed it after all these years!
