Growing up in Union City, TN, Chastity Brownís first introduction to music was singing in her church's gospel choir. Brown left her home in 2006 to settle in Minneapolis, MN, where she self-recorded and released her debut album Do the Best You Can a year later. She developed a dedicated local following and earned rave reviews from Twin Cities-area publications, but she didnít catch her big break until an executive from BMI caught her live act and helped her get a recording contract. Her 2012 album Back-Road Highways helped put her on the map, and she was soon touring Europe and opening for acts like Leon Russell, Michael Kiwanuka, Dar Williams, and Raul Midon. She has also lent her voice to several Minneapolis charities, including Think Out Loud, a musical collective that released a compilation album and donated all of the proceeds to local homeless shelters. With fans eager for more soulful roots music following her 2014 album Long Way, Chastity Brown continues to move listeners every time she shares her stirring sound in concert.
