About

Without British singer, musician, and songwriter, Paul Carrack, the 80s and early 90s could have sounded very different.  He's recorded a multitude of solo works, as well as performs in a number of influential bands. He is regarded by many Brits as a national treasure and musician of cult status. He first came on the music scene in the mid-seventies as the singer frontman and songwriter of the band Ace, and later gained acclaim and recognition for his time in bands such as Squeeze and Roxy Music, as well as for his own solo work. From 1985 until the late nineties, he enjoyed significant success with Mike and the Mechanics, co-fronting the band with Paul Young and writing many of their hits. After Young died in 2000, Paul remained as the band's only lead singer until 2004, and also maintains an active solo career which is still going strong today.

Carrack's vocals appear on a number of top hits from the bands he worked with included "Tempted" by Squeeze, "How Long" by Ace and "Silent Running", "Over my Shoulder" and "The Living Years" by Mike and The Mechanics. He also took lead vocals for the Roger Waters releases, The Wall - Live in Berlin and Radio K.A.O.S. Carrack also achieved a significant solo hit in 1987 when he released "Don't Shed a Tear".  His songwriting abilities have tapped by prominent artists like, Diana Ross, The Eagles, Tom Jones and Jools Holland record his songs. Furthermore, he has worked as a session and touring musician and vocalist for Ringo Starr, Elton John, BB King, Eric Clapton, The Smiths and The Pretenders.

He's still working as a songwriter, performer,  and session musician, touring periodically and opening for other bands, including Supertramp.
