About

7 SECONDS IN CONCERT:

Hardcore mainstay 7 Seconds has been quaking fans to the core with their blistering sound and adrenaline-filled live shows since 1980. 7 Seconds pioneered the "youth crew" movement in hardcore music with their optimistic lyrics and focus on brotherhood, and their commitment to punk rock positivity remains their calling card more than three decades later. At their live shows frontman Kevin Seconds is a bundle of electricity, issuing his explosive vocals with fiery-eyed intensity while the band keeps pace with searing guitar, driving bass, and breakneck drumming. Whether they're playing early favorites like "Walk Together, Rock Together" or tearing through their anthemic cover of Nena's "99 Red Balloons", 7 Seconds always rocks ticket buyers with plenty of feel-good hardcore energy at their amped-up live performances.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

7 Seconds was formed in Reno, NV in 1980 by the Marvelli brothers (aka "Kevin Seconds" and "Steve Youth") and the Borghino brothers (aka "Tom Munist" and "Dim Menace"). The band issued several demo cassettes in the early '80s, and in 1982 they released their debut EP Skins, Brains and Guts on legendary independent punk label Alternative Tentacles. They made their album debut in 1984 with The Crew, a seminal release that helped establish the "youth crew" movement of hardcore bands interested in promoting community and brotherhood. By the 1986 release of their album New Wind, 7 Seconds' sound had expanded to include more melodic and mainstream elements. They continued to evolve in the mid-'90s with a more U2-inspired rock sound, but they had returned to their old school hardcore roots by 1999's Good to Go. The band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the years, but Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth have remained constants, ensuring the group's current shows have the same energy and ethos that made 7 Seconds such a legendary live act from the start.

No school like the old school

by theSamhainKid on 8/5/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

What a blast!!! 7 Seconds still has it! After 30-something years, these old school hardcore vets still bring the goods on tour. With a setlist chock full of "hits" from their first release to their latest album, a great time was had by all. Driving and aggressive, yet catchy tune after catchy tune was the order of the night. Singalongs galore! Last minute added opener the Zero Boys also killed it by surprising everyone with how great they still are after all these years with their take on melodic hardcore. All the bands sounded great and the bouncers at the venue even let the occasional stage diver have their fun without getting booted out.
