About

With the release of Love Ritual in 2010, soul singer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Al Green reminded the world exactly why he so richly deserves legendary status. Featuring a remix of retro hits and rare tracks, Love Ritual is a nostalgic predecessor to his 2008 album Lay It Down, which featured a collection of earthy, soul-infused songs epitomizing his iconic sound from the past four decades. Green's concerts feature a mix of old favorites as well as new, contemporary takes on classics, and fan excitement runs high during his intense, bluesy riffs and highly charged vocal improvisations. Lay It Down spawned a major European tour, with ticket holders thrilling to the singer’s low-and-smoky take on “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?,” as well as his gospel-powered romance anthem, “Let’s Get Married.” His newest release follows similarly with throbbing, gutsy vocals and pulsating rhythms.

As much a showman as a singer, Green entered the performing arena during the 1960s, emulating the singing styles of heroes Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke. Green hit the charts with “Tired of Being Alone” and his slow, sexy sound and charismatic interpretive style catapulted him to R&B royalty. After the platinum “I’m Still in Love with You,” Green produced a string of hits, including the iconic “I Feel Good” and fan favorite “Let’s Stay Together.” By the 1980s, Green made ministry a primary focus in his life but still found time to stay on top of his R&B career — Rolling Stone magazine included him on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Today, the Reverend Green is a fully ordained pastor who continues to go on concert tours whenever possible. With the release of Love Ritual, a new generation can experience the thrill of listening to one of the world's greatest R&B musicians.

    A great show

by SW on 3/3/24Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Just being there in the room there was so much energy, electricity even. Everyone was in awe of the greatness of Al Green. Seeing people of all ages, races, ethnicities vibing to the classic songs and feeling the music was indescribable. He sounded great. He had plenty of energy. The show was honestly better than I expected. He really didn't just show up. He put on a show. I was grateful to be a part of it, and to witness a piece of history with one of the truly great music legends. It was well worth it. Still in Love (with Al Green)!

    Great and Disappointed

by Mz West on 1/7/24Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Al Green is one of my favorite artists. It was wonderful seeing and hearing him perform, again. However, this is the last time that I will attend a show at the Fox Theater. I am very disappointed that the glamorous ambience of the theater no longer exist.

    Good bank fair performance

by Rob on 12/10/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

Al Green had a good band backing him. He didn’t seem to know the words to several of his hit songs. He had a lot of the vocal stylings he was famous for in his delivery of material. I appreciated seeing him. I’ve been a fan for years. Overall a 3 star performance.

    Terrible

    by Dave on 12/8/23

The parking was terrible and Al played less than one hour. He has so many hits but did not sing anyone of them all the way through. Anyone that paid to see this should get refunded.

The promotors need to be held accountable

    by mac on 12/6/23

This show was scheduled to be Angela Winbush and Al Green. Angela was not present and I am willing to bet she was aware she was scheduled for the show. The DJ Foody ran the show and has a history of promoting acts on a ticket/show and it is always a no show somewhere. He has been getting away with this for over 20 years. Years ago Winbush was schedule with the Isley Brothers no show. Another big show GUY was scheduled no show. He has been doing this no show business for years. 227$ to see Al Green for an hour HELL NO!! Blame FOODY

We had great seats. The Fox must improve the ladies room. I did enjoy the evening with Al Green.

Al Green at the FOX in Detroit

by Cheryl on 12/1/23Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The opening act comedian was horrible. He not for the mature diverse audience. Moreover, he was not funny!! Al Green was good yet under the weather. The band was dynamic. The overall all event was good. Al could have sing more songs in its fullness instead of fractions of songs

Time for Al to take a Break

by Melba on 11/29/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

I absolutely loved Al Green's music in the past, but he can't perform the way he used to. He spent too much time handing out roses instead of finishing a song. I respect the man, but he needs to retire from the stage.

Al Green great venue parking a joke

by Nw on 11/28/23Family Arena - Saint Charles

Missed Bettye Levette due to the bad parking issue. Huge parking lot but had to drive all the way to the very back just to get in the parking lot which took 45 minutes. It was a joke trying to get in the parking lot. Drove 4 hours to have to wait in the line, whole car almost peed on their self because of the long wait. Was very appreciative of the seat upgrades since the top layer was closed off.
