    Genius at work

    by James h on 7/22/23

Ear candy was-on the menu and Daniel Lanois creates it like no one else! Vocal harmony and precision instrumentals, topped with a humble stage presence, make Daniel the consummate performer. If only 6 stars were possible…

So wonderful to have been able to attend a Jazz Fest concert of this magnitude for free !! Very well organized and respectful of all Covid safety measures. The talent was incredible, the sound just stunning and the night was unforgettable! Thank you for bringing back the Jazz Festival !

Love the suit, but it was too short

by Evelyne tremblay on 9/19/21Scène TD - Montreal

I was sooo happy to get to see him live!! I was bummed out of not being able to get tickets, but on a hunch, finally got some 😀. He was spectacular in his mariachi suit (with a different hat) and I loved every second he was on stage. Perhaps his show was a little too short, as I would have listened to it/him all night long! The pandemic had made a different form of a crowd, separated in three sections, it was ... different, but nevertheless we felt the audience was in it. Men dancing (almost!), women singing, it was an wonderful "hommage" to music specially when he played the slide guitar. Kuddos to all the staff, was it for vaccination, tickets, they were all nice and efficient!

    Daniel Lanois: A Rare Event

by McSpooty on 5/11/15Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

I waited for Daniel to play The STL for years. He came onstage first with Rocco Deluca, a singer/musician/songwriter who played steel guitar opposite Daniel, who also played a steel guitar. The music was atmospheric/sonic/ethereal and frankly, after 40 minutes, boring and soporific. Daniel then took a break and then came back onstage to play more familiar material, some from his early album, Acadie some that I did not recognize. The fact that there was no seating in the Duck Room forced us to stand for, not only the hour prior to the show, but the entire show as well. My date left early to go upstairs and sit at the bar. All in all, I enjoyed finally seeing and hearing Dan play. It was more of an experimental studio performance than I was expecting. Still, very interesting.

    Daniel Lanois was great!!!!

by marker57 on 5/8/15Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

Daniel Lanois succesfully duplicated his cutting edge electronic music from his newest album Flesh and Machine. I didnt know if he could do it. He also mixed in some older tunes we all knew. Rocco DeLuca opened the show accompanied by Lanois on steel guitar, I left a fan of Rocco too. I sincerely hope both return to St Louis. I will go everytime!

Daniel Lanois and Brian Blade in Toronto

by ChicagoSuperFan1 on 3/31/12The Black Box Theatre at the Great Hall - Toronto

Daniel Lanois, Brian Blade (and Jimmy Wilson) are not afraid to get close to their audience. The pure intimacy of this venue made for an exceptional experience. Fresh from receiving the Canadian lifetime achievement award, Lanois is up close and personal. The show consisted of a tri-level presentation of live mixing and live music with fascinating visuals. Technically superior, as usual. Add the terrific quality of every single member of the staff at the Great Hall, and it puts this one over the top. A fine "thank you" from the artists to the fans. It was "real".

    Harvest Picnic was fantastic!

by galleyman on 8/30/11Christie Lake Conservation Area - Dundas

First the venue, you couldn't ask for a better place. Everything was well spaced out and if you wanted to lay back there was plenty of room for it. No lines for the men's washrooms, a bit of one for the ladies. Only one beer available but it was Steamwhistle in cans so can't complain about that. The new festival law eliminating beer tents is a definate bonus, disperses the drunks a little bit. The farmers market threw me off a little, who wants to buy produce and carry it around a concert all night? Good idea, just didn't fly. All of the bands were amazing.....Daniel Lanois could have been showcased a little bit more but it was his concert so who am I to judge? Ray Lamontagne and Emmylou Harris were definately the highlights though.

Harvest picnic -lets make it annual!

by ChicagoSuperFan1 on 8/29/11Christie Lake Conservation Area - Dundas

Well organized event in a beautiful setting for a good cause. The sound quality was exceptional and the line- up outstanding. Better than usual facilities for an outdoor event as there were flush toilets as well as port-a-johns. And how's this for an idea- FREE WATER !
