    Raul Malo, Solo

by IPlayBass on 4/9/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

An excellent performance by Raul and his Guitar, many songs from The Mavericks. His son came out and accompanied Dad on a snare drum, with brushes and was later joined by opener, Seth Walker, on guitar. A full house was delighted!

    Great Show

by Mark on 4/8/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

Raul Malo, the frontman singer for the Mavericks, probably doesn't need to play 500 seat venues by himself (and a few tunes with his son on snare) but I am glad he does. Not only does he have one of the best voices in all of music IMHO, but his passion for music made this a must see show. In a nutshell, Raul loves to sing. The material he covered spanned new Mavericks yet to be released songs, some obscure (to me) Spanish selections, some classics, and some Mavericks favorites. His voice was flawless, and he sang almost 2 hours. A special night of music for me.

Enjoyed the concert. First time seeing Rual as a solo act.

The venue was nice. I just personally don't like driving in Clifton area.

    Beautiful

by Music for me on 4/5/24

Saw Raul at ludlow garage. Venue is nice; small. All I can say he has the voice of angel. I think played for around 2 hours; no break. His guitar playing is unreal. Has a lot of new good music. Usually I like when singers stick with their old stuff but his new music is good. My only little bit of criticism is he played a lot of ‘Spanish’ music which we listen to at home but at a concert kind of makes a concert drag a little. I bought some ‘newbies’ to the concert and afterwards they just raved about Raul and can’t wait to see him again…and the mavericks!! Highly recommend

    Fabulous and versatile

    by Grace-Marie on 4/2/24Birchmere - Alexandria

Raul Malo is a quintessential performer, whether solo or with the Mavericks. The Birchmere venue is particularly fitting for his solo concert (this time with his son and blues singer and songwriter Seth Walker). On March 30, Raul performed many beloved songs and some new ones from his upcoming album. And you get the backstory of the songs and his life--including when his Nashville home was flooded and irreplaceable recordings and writings were thought to be lost (but later found in storage). He also showed his professionalism when a couple in the front row got into a vocal fight while he was singing a love song. You can find a video of it on YouTube captured by fan Bob Collins). An amazing moment.

Fabulous Show...didn't want it to end!

by Skybird on 5/2/22Birchmere - Alexandria

I had just seen the Mavericks in Charles Town, WV Casino, but when I saw that Raul Malo was appearing solo at the Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, VA I jumped on it. It was a great show. It was minus the fabulous Mavericks band, but did have Raul's oldest son, Dino on drums. He sang a lot of songs that he did not have time to sing with the band. It was fun to hear him banter with the audience and his son. My only disappointment was that Raul does a great cover of Roy Orbison's Crying, and I was hoping that he would sing it. But in any case, it was a great show and a super add on to the Mavericks show a few weeks earlier. If you can see Raul Malo near you, go and see him. He is a charming superstar.

    Unique

by Chat on 5/2/22Birchmere - Alexandria

Have seen Raul Malo numerous times. Thursday's performance was somewhat unique; he seemed very connected to audience; did some different tunes, plus his best. Great performance.
