Respect the closure or lose the access

    by BetterThanAGoodDayWorking on 4/13/24

Unless you were with the pre-season survey (obtained by lottery) OR the pre-season Fly fishing (one day only in late April and hadn't happened as of 4/9) then you were poaching and fishing out of season. Don't be that guy. The usual staff who helpedanage Barrett are retiring. New ones have less time/interest to protect this fishery for our use. It's not only your water. And it can go away. Be a man and respect the rules so others can enjoy this place for generations to come.

    caught 3 all day

by cat man do on 4/9/24

Got on the lake at the first peak of light fished until night and caught 3. The 200 fish day is a lie, its would be impossible at 3 to 5 min a fish. Do the math.

    First Timer, Good Fun

    by LunkerLar on 12/19/23

I heard stories of 100 fish days...we caught 12. Lake was bigger than I expected. Nothing on top water or casting the banks initially. Water was high. Trolled off the bank across from dock with 5-10 ft Cranks Rapala DT-5 and Strike King DT 3, 6. (all shad colors). Picked up 2 lb Crappie. We continued to troll and cast at main lake points and still were getting nothing. Then we saw the birds...follow the birds, find the bait, find the school. Got at least 10 two to three pound fish with deep cranks in 8-12 ft. Worked the heck out of the shore. Nothing on spinner baits/keitech/texas rigged. Only crank baits worked. Very cool experience. Hope to go in May or September!

    Best in the West 🙂

Lake Barrett is a beautiful place to fish! Stocked with northern bass which are very aggressive! This lake is accessible only by buying tickets from Ticketmaster. It is a catch release lake. No barbs allowed and no bait! Only artificials!

Bite Still Slow and Got asked if we “Snuck-In”!

    by TreePounder on 7/25/23

We arrived when the guy was leaving the gate to get gas/. He stopped and checked my name and received the $30 cash from us. Then when we finished our day another guy came up to us and asked if we paid bc he had no record of us paying to be there. When he realized we were genuine in our answer he backed off and said, “ok you guys are good”. Maybe you should give out colored wristbands to help with the confusion. Just a thought.

Water is way up...tons of shad...fish are full!

by RoscoeRocks on 6/28/23Barrett Lake - Dulzura

Barrett is a special gem- that only the dedicated will secure access to- and those that do- will need to commit a full day or two for prep; driving; return and clean up! This is NOT the place to go if you have a few hours to fish and want a 'wham bam!' While the LUCKY anglers who fished the first few dates were treated to good numbers of hungry bass- it has tamed out and is now 'hit or miss.' But you still have to put in the time, prep and effort for a day at Barrett. Lake is beautiful and FULL of water...and launching a yak is VERY easy and SWEET to do if you have good legs, and/or a motor! Try it- then you'll know, too!

    Fish biting all day

by SjW on 5/28/23Barrett Lake - Dulzura

Put kayak in before sun came up,also had two in boat before sun up. Threw one bait only, SENKOS, and caught over 50 fish and lost countless others. Pay attention to the birds, they led me to a point where i was catching fish with almost every cast. Love the new lake!

Had the time of my life. I'v lways done well at Barrett but

by SjW on 5/28/23Barrett Lake - Dulzura

Threw only Senkos and they were biting. I slowly worked newly sunken trees, pulling one or two from every spot. But then i saw the birds crashing shad on a point and started catching 2&3 pounders on nearly every cast.

    Beautiful Lake

by Johnnylh on 5/17/23Barrett Lake - Dulzura

This lake has been a blessing in my life for over 12 years. During that time the water level has changed from dismal to average. This year it is close to spill level and amazing with all the rain we've received. The fishing was spectacular, I caught 56 largemouth bass. What an amazing place.
