Utah Jazz History
The Utah Jazz joined the NBA in 1974 as an expansion franchise in New Orleans. They quickly traded for a local favorite, point guard "Pistol" Pete Maravich, who went to college at Louisiana State. Maravich had an entertaining style of playing and won the NBA scoring title in the 1976–77 season.
Logistical issues plagued the team in New Orleans, where the franchise spent only five years, never finishing with a winning record. The Jazz moved to Utah for the 1979–80 season, and they qualified for the playoffs for the first time in 1983–84.
The season after their first playoff berth, the Jazz selected point guard John Stockton with the No. 16 pick in the NBA Draft. The following year, they selected forward Karl Malone with the No. 13 pick. They became one of the best duos in NBA history and anchored the most successful period in franchise history.
The Jazz qualified for the playoffs in 20 consecutive seasons and won 50 or more regular season games in 11 of those seasons. Malone won the NBA MVP Award twice, in 1997 and 1999, and Stockton broke Magic Johnson's career assist record in 1995. He finished his career with 15,806 assists, a record that still stands.
The Jazz advanced to the NBA Finals in back-to-back seasons in 1996–97 and 1997–98, but they faced Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls both times. The Bulls beat them in six games each year. Utah has not been back to the finals since, but they’ve maintained a consistent level of success. They have missed the playoffs just nine times in the last 35 years.

Delta Center (formerly Vivint Arena) has gone through several different names, but it has been the home of the Utah Jazz since it opened in 1991. The arena has hosted several notable events, including the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The exterior of the arena features statues of point guard John Stockton and forward Karl Malone, who are widely considered the two best players in Jazz franchise history. Stockton spent his entire 19-year career in Utah, while Malone spent 18 years with the Jazz.

I went to see Utah Jazz vs. Golden state Warriors. Game was great and atmosphere here is always awesome. Only negative and it's big, next morning i woke up and turned my phone on and i got an email from ticket master saying that my account was accessed in California and i need to change my password. That scared the s#!t out of me. I Only got this ticket master app for this event and already hacked, wow. Btw, my old password was mixed letters numbers and was 15 characters long. Secure accounts is where improvements need to be made. Scary !!!
Everything was amazing. The security, fans and players. Best experience snd highly recommended. For being a professional sporting event, it was truly a humbling experience.
Even been in the extremely upper bowl it was great to be a part of the atmosphere of the arena. So glad I was able w be there!
Had a great time ay Jazz home opener. I was sad to see no giveaways were done this time. Also it seems the food prices went higher. Its hard to buy for a family at the arena.
Everything was allright despite the high ticket prices. Event entrance was well organized as well the time to scan and validate the ticket. Online purchase was fast and easy, a lowlight was the unavailability of the app for numbers outside US.
The place is clean, the people are friendly, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the bbq is superb
The crowd was amazing! Best game I have ever been to!
We went to the game as a family for the first time. We really enjoyed it and hope to be able to go again as a family soon.
Great arena, great atmosphere great game. Such an amazing experience
My wife and I attended a recent Jazz game. We enjoyed a pre-game meal (Cup Bop) and settled in for an exciting game. The Jazz barely won adding to the total experience of the evening. Although my wife is not a big fan, she said she really the experience.
Totally not worth the money. Overpriced. Ended up Sitting behind opposing team. So didn’t even get the experience of the jazz players. Food not good. Too many lines. Waited forever to get let in. Definitely thought the experience was going to better. I even bought attire to get autographs but never even came close. Even though we were on row 6.
I was in town for work and the Jazz happened to have a home game. I was able to purchase my ticket an hour before the game. Plus, the app allowed me to find an aisle seat.
What a great game against the Bucks! Way to go Jazz!!
Loved it! The game was great and we could see it all from our seats.
The Jazz came ready to play San Antonio - and play they did. One of the best games we have been to and we won!
Good entertainment start to finish with the bear and players and crowd
...our first time in the remodeled VSA...Jazz vs Rockets....Jazz list but the entire experience was awesome...thank you Gail Miller for your passion to keep the Jazz innSLC for ever!...
We got to the stadium around 7 so right when the game started and I wasn’t havent a good day and the security guard noticed that and definitely put a smile on my face! Awesome people and awesome team!
Watching the game and some of the time out shows are awesome. The arena is great. It half time shows lately have been terrible. I was at a game where there was a 60 second show and then absolutely nothing for the remainder of the time. I know I’m there for the game but a little more half time show would be pretty sweet too
