Trans-Siberian Orchestra On Tour

The holidays rock a whole lot harder than they ever have thanks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. By infusing seasonal classics with rock flamboyance, a symphonic sense of scope, and an eye-popping visual presentation complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, what began as a side project for a veteran group of American hard rockers has grown into one of today's top-selling acts, with over 10 million concert tickets sold since 1999.

Now, to celebrate the band's 20th year on the road, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is mounting an all-new production of the show that first turned them into an arena-rock phenomenon. First performed in 1999 and recorded for a TV special – which became just as much of a holiday staple as ‘The Sound of Music' – ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' was conceived by Paul O'Neill, TSO's original mastermind. A veteran producer for acts like Aerosmith and Savatage, O'Neill was inspired by the rock operas of The Who and the grandly theatrical concerts of Pink Floyd to create something that was even more spectacular. Together with Savatage members Jon Oliva, Bob Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli, O'Neill developed a unique project that married the spirit of the season with all the exhilarating sounds, operatic grandeur, and visual bravura that fans had come to expect of rock gods. After the massive success of TSO's first two albums, ‘Christmas Eve and Other Stories' and ‘The Christmas Attic,' O'Neill and his team took it on the road (and TV screens) with similarly blockbuster results.

Though TSO's repertoire would extend far beyond holiday songs to encompass the greats of classical music on ‘Beethoven's Last Night' and O'Neill's own original rock operas like ‘Night Castle,' their thrilling and highly singular take on seasonal music remains their trademark. Tragically, O'Neill's passing in 2017 robbed the music world of a true visionary. But his team of friends and collaborators in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra honor his legacy with a new production of ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past' that both preserves and revitalizes a landmark merger of music, theatrics, storytelling, and seasonal cheer that yielded an international phenomenon.

by Roz on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Seen them in concert before and absolutely loved the concert! This time the concert totally did NOT measure up to the previous experience. They didn’t play as long and the concert just didn’t have the spark that it had before!

Would have been 5 stars but...

by Lou S on 1/2/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

I always love TSO, their light show, and musical talent, is as good as it gets, this show was wonderful as usual, but there was one song they did toward the end of the show where they had stage fire and fire triangle going, which isn't a big deal, but then the side panels had flames and they performed Carmina Burana, a famous german Catana that was sung by Nazi's and banned in Israel, had nothing to do with the Holidays. And although they performed this song brilliantly, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the holidays and was a bit troubling at least to my taste. Would have been a 5-star without that blip.

    First time TSO experience...simply amazing!

by tjrech on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

I absolutely loved the interaction of the singers to engage the crowd and elicit a response! Just cheering was not enough and they wanted more interaction. It was amazing :) The light show was so much fun. The operators were timing with the singers could not have been better. I could do without the bright white, as I could not see the stage. Being on main floor was blinding. Every singer they put forth was just as good as the others! Never a let down! The stories told by the teller, the crowd, singers, was just a great night to be present!

    Our First Time

by Sunny on 1/2/24Nationwide Arena - Columbus

Wow. All went smoothly and we got our money’s worth, except for one issue. The only issue was, there was a young ‘brat’ as my husband put it, behind us. Kept hitting his seat and all that. His guardian hardly did anything and semi-apologized at the end. My recommendation is not to allow young children to the show if they are not able to control themselves. It would also have been great if we were able to stand for a few minutes in the middle of the performance, e.g. a seventh-inning stretch.

    Concert #3

by NE_So_Dak on 1/2/24Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

2023 was the 3rd concert by TSO that my girlfriend and I have attended. 2019 and 2021 were attended in years past. We were fortunate that TSO came closer to where we live, by appearing in Sioux Falls, SD. This year was a trip to St. Paul, MN that took 5 hours, one way. At first I thought maybe i had made a mistake by traveling that far. The concert did not seem to be as good as the others i had attended. And the weather was beginning to deteriorate, making me concerned about the trip home. About a half hour into the concert, things started to change for the both of us. It was nice in that program had been changed and rearranged. So we were pleased that we able to hear our favorite songs performed. But was surprised about some of the technical program and story line had changed. The trip home was still no fun. But we both agreed that the concert was worth the trip. I recommend it highly to someone who has never seen TSO perform. Or to someone that has not attended a concert recently. I will not make any comments relating to things I saw. I do not want to spoil your experience. Enjoy.
