About

Smokey Robinson isn't just the former frontman of the Miracles, or the man behind several dozen R&B classics, or one of the key figures in the initial Motown movement. He isn’t just a National Medal of Arts award winner and an inductee in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Robinson is additionally a fantastic live musician and still a great performer, with an energy and enthusiasm that is incredible given his nearly six decades of experience in the music industry. These days, his concerts are celebratory affairs, with multiple generations of fans coming together to enjoy one of the true legends of American R&B. In epic performances that often last over two hours, Robinson sings hits from his entire career, dating back to early Miracles hits like “I Second That Emotion,” right through to newer tracks like "Don't Know Why" and "Love Bath," off his most recent album, 2009’s appropriately titled Time Flies When You're Having Fun.

From humble beginnings growing up poor in the north end of Detroit, Robinson first brought the Miracles together in 1955, at the age of just 15. Five years later, the group signed to Motown Records, and its first hit single, "Shop Around," became the young label’s first million-selling record. Another 25 hits followed for the band, including "Mickey's Monkey," "I Second That Emotion," "Baby Baby Don't Cry," and the No. 1 hit "Tears of a Clown." Robinson, then vice-president of Motown, started recording on his own, leading to hits like "A Quiet Storm," "Cruisin'," and "Just to See Her." His 2009 album Time Flies When You're Having Fun hit No. 10 on the R&B charts, and tickets continue to sell out for his concert tours, as fans await the opportunity to see this living legend.

How can he be 84 and still sound that good?

    by SoCalMama on 3/5/24

First things first I love Smokey! I’m in my 40’s and this was on my bucket list! At 84 he didn’t miss a beat and his voice is still magical!!! He sang the classics but when it came to his new releases no one was dancing and a lot of people were up get drinks or using the restroom. The show started 40 mins late which was a little annoying given Pechanga asked people to come an hour before the show. Also I know Smokey is and was a sexy sexy man but the grinding at 84 was a little off putting. I’m sure woman his age enjoyed it. All in all I would go again…the man’s a Legend…they don’t make em like him anymore. His voice is flawless!

    Smokey was fantastic... but....

by Pegster on 3/5/24Pechanga Resort Casino - Temecula

This was my fifth time seeing Smokey live. Various venues locally. I have never had to sit and wait almost 45 minutes for the concert to start. He was supposed to be on at 8:00p and did not even come out on stage until 8:45. No explanation, no "hey, we're running late"... nothing. People started clapping and whistling at 8:30... to say "Hey!"... The one thing I and others noticed was a huge amount of people started coming in to be seated at 8:30... no explanation. If they were the reason we were waiting for so long, a heads-up would have been nice. It made the concert run until 10:30-10:45. Yes, it was a Saturday night, but dumping all of the people who did not have a room at the hotel for the night out on the road at 11 was not cool. I had a two-hour drive home and didn't appreciate getting home way after midnight and the people I sat next to were as far away or farther.

    Smokey still has it!

by Edju on 3/5/24Pechanga Resort Casino - Temecula

Wow! Didn't know what to expect from 84 year old Smokey. My wife and I were blown away by his energy, showmanship and voice. He performed flawlessly in his 2 hour set. We had a great time and will see him again in the future. We highly recommend that you see him in person before his career is over.

    Sorry I spent the $$$

by Sherry on 3/5/24Pechanga Resort Casino - Temecula

First off, he came out 45 minutes after the show was supposed to start!!!!!! He did some of the oldies, which is why most of us were there. He changed up the tempo on them so they weren’t the oldies we wanted. He did a song in Spanish….. then 4 or 5 from a new cd that’s out…… half way thru I was ready to leave.
