About

Paul McCartney has been anything but idle during his post-Beatle years. In 1971 (within one year after the break-up of the Fab Four), McCartney formed the rock band Wings which would go on to produce numerous hit singles and enjoy strong album and ticket sales during the decade of its existence. Wings' most successful and highly acclaimed album, Band on the Run, stayed at the top of the U.S. Charts for four weeks and went triple platinum. Hit songs for the band include "Live and Let Die," "Band on the Run," "Jet," and "Silly Love Songs." McCartney proved, in the '80s, that his popularity with the public was still as strong as ever by embarking on a highly successful solo tour. Memorable collaborative songs were also produced in the '80s--"Say Say Say" and "The Girl is Mine" with Michael Jackson, and "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder. In the '90s, he expanded his already impressive musical repertoire by composing two albums of classical works (Standing Stone and Working Classical) recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and, in the same decade, released an album of ambient, techno music under the pseudonym The Firemen. Other notable albums of his solo career are 1982's Tug of War (recorded with famed Beatles producer George Martin), his 1984 soundtrack for the film Give My Regards to Broad Street (which he also directed), and 1989's Flowers in the Dirt, and 1997's Flaming Pie. McCartney was honored with a Knightship in 1997.

    Disappointed

by Vince on 6/23/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Was disappointed he didn’t sing several of the great Beatle’s songs he has performed during past tours. Missed: And I Love Her, All My Loving, We Can Work it Out and Yesterday.

    The Great Sir Paul

by cctravel on 6/22/22Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

It was a privilege to see Paul McCartney and his band in person, a sense that you were in the presence of greatness. The crowd was super respectful, knowing this was a special experience, not your run of the mill show. Yes, his voice at 80 isn't what it used to be, but it's unmistakably his. As a baby boomer who grew up listening to the Beatles, it was awesome to hear Blackbird and other iconic tunes being sung by Paul McCartney himself. He also played new material, which I didn't know, but he mostly played tons of the classics by the Beatles and Wings. These iconic artists aren't going to be around forever, so it's important to catch their shows while they're still touring! Thank you, Sir Paul, for coming to Seattle. A word about the venue... given that Covid was not completely behind us in May, I was surprised that Climate Pledge Arena didn't require masks. The next day, I was notified by my public health app that I had been exposed at the concert. Fortunately, I was double vaxxed and boosted, so I must have had enough immunity that I didn't come down with the virus. I had a Covid test done just to be sure. Not cool!

Third Time Seeing Sir Paul was a Charm! However...

by Marce on 6/22/22MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

Everything was perfect other than the actual tickets. Its very stressful having ONLY Mobile tix on cell phone. We brought printed copies on paper, just in case the ticket on the cell phone didn't work correctly. Why must it be this way only? (I know its helping to stop the scams and scalpers) BUT if someone doesn't have the latest smartphone, they are not allowed because they can't have a MOBILE ticket? Kind of crazy in my opinion... Also we had 2 seats in section 117, last row, perfect view, not so close but large screens helped. The scene behind us however is an open floor space with a large bar, and the noise of all the people roaming around and drinking and drunk and talking loudly was VERY distracting. While we end up paying $300+ per ticket, it was not only distracting but very annoying. METLIFE stadium needs to do something, especially with all the $$$ they rake in for parking alone! Maybe add in a large divider to block off all of that Noise??? Otherwise the whole concert was AMAZING!

One half of the greatest songwriting team that ever existed.

by Tuggy on 6/22/22MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

I’ve heard people say that his voice is going. One the greatest Rock n Roll vocalist ever. If he is now at 50%, he is still better than everyone else. Still in great shape, right up there with 60 year olds in the band. An incredible band that keeps the Beatle/McCartney catalogue fresh in the minds and ears of their audience. With each concert and the accompanying video background this aging Beatle fan who thinks he knows all there is to know about the four lads from Liverpool is continually being introduced to the relevance of Paul’s writing throughout the last three generations. Paul is one of the greatest showmen. Not a boring moment. Paul brings great truth to the saying, “We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing”. My blessing to you Mr. McCartney is that you should see 120 years and have fun getting there. We will keep listening.

    Simply the Best

by Patty O’ on 6/22/22MetLife Stadium - East Rutherford

Paul McCartney and his band played non-stop for almost 3 hours. The play list included many Beatles and Wings songs as well as some newer ones. He sang for and with the audience, told a number of wonderful stories, and gave a fabulous performance, including a surprise visit by Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, and an unforgettable duet with John Lennon via technological wizardry. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen!
