About

Jeff Lynne's ELO in Concert

"It's nice to have songs in your catalog that stand the test of time." So says creator Jeff Lynne about one of the most cherished troves in the history of pop music. As the singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer who masterminded the Electric Light Orchestra (or ELO for short), the Birmingham-bred Lynne created a fabulously futuristic yet eminently engaging series of hit albums and singles that may be just as thrilling to new generations of listeners as they were to the millions who bought them during ELO's original run from 1970 to 1986. Indeed, thanks to these songs' presence on the soundtracks for movies like ‘American Hustle' and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,' it feels like ELO's hardly been away.

Yet until the new revival, ELO had been dormant since 1986, Lynne resurrecting the band only briefly for the 2001 album ‘Zoom.' Lynne stayed busy with solo albums and production work for friends like George Harrison and Tom Petty, two legends who'd join him alongside the late Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan in the Traveling Wilburys. Then the release of a new compilation in 2012 — ‘Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra' — spurred Lynne and original ELO member Richard Tandy to perform a benefit concert at London's Apollo. It led to a much grander return for BBC Two's Hyde Park Festival in 2014, with all 50,000 tickets selling out in 15 minutes. "That felt like I was breaking through a barrier," said Lynne of the end of ELO's long hiatus as a live act. The triumphs continued with a medley of "Evil Woman" and "Mr. Blue Sky" at the 2015 Grammy Awards, a historic concert at England's iconic Wembley Stadium in 2016, and ELO's 2017 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

With the help of musical director Mike Stevens and 13 players, Jeff Lynne continues to bring the ELO experience to audiences worldwide in a two-hour show that includes such classics as "Evil Woman," "Strange Magic," and "Livin' Thing." Fans can also enjoy more unexpected pleasures like "Do Ya" by The Move, the ‘60s rockers that first teamed Lynne and his ELO cofounder Roy Wood, and the Traveling Wilburys' "Handle With Care." The new ELO songs Lynne wrote and recorded for ‘Alone in the Universe' (2015) prove that one of pop's most celebrated craftsmen has not lost his Midas touch.

    A Dream Come True.

    by BZM on 3/21/24

I wasn't old enough to attend rock concerts in 1982, but my older brother was, and so dad took him to see ELO whereas I got to purchase the album "Time". They told me all about the spaceship. We already had Discovery & ole elo, & "no answer"(lol). Ive dreamed of going ever since. Their catalogue came back on my radar with Mr Blue Sky in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and my ELO passion was revived. 42 years later, I've also revived my love for vinyl, i have every vinyl ELO studio album plus some Jeff Lynne gems. And now I get to finally see him in concert. I simply cant wait!! Roll over Beethoven! Tell Tchaikovsky the news!!!!

One more time to see ELO live. Flying from Albuquerque, NM to see them in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland. And then driving to Phoenix to say goodbye to Jeff with my wife and two daughters.

    Amazing Show

    by Stephen on 3/20/24

I saw ELO in San Jose in 2019. It was fantastic!!! It was the last show that I saw with my wife before I lost her in 2021. She danced for the entire show. We had so much fun! It is a memory that sustains me to this day. I found that she carried her ticket with her everyday since the show. I framed it. Go see Jeff Lynn, it is worth every penny..

I have been listening to ELO for close to 50 years. First saw them live in the late seventies as a teenager. Fantastic show. Timeless songs. Jeff Lynne is indeed a genius. My favorite singer. My favorite songwriter. I am so grateful for the music he has created over the years. He has given me and millions of other people so many great songs to enjoy. ELO songs are like individual masterpieces. Everyone should experience Jeff Lynne’s ELO in concert.🎸🥁🎹🎻🎤

    Top 3🥰

    by Kathleen on 3/18/24

I saw the ELO was coming to Columbus. I immediately sent a text message to my sister and she was all in. It was definitely one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life number one being the Beegees in 1978, and number two being Michael Jackson in 1982. I cried when I heard the first song. I am 62 years old and listen to ELO when I was in high school they have always been one of my all-time favorite bands. I love their music and the show was absolutely phenomenal. My sister loved it too. I can’t wait to go back this time in Cincinnati in September . !!!

I first saw ELO in 1982 after the release of the TIME album. That concert set my love affair with ELO in motion..they blew me away. Fast forward to July 2019 and Jeff Lynne's ELO is coming to my city again. Seeing ELO a second time was something I never thought would happen, but it did. What an awesone concert. If you ever get a chance to see this concert, take rhat chance. you wont be disappointed.

One of the best shows of my life

by aspeer70 on 4/25/20State Farm Arena - Atlanta

I have loved ELO my whole life, but never had a chance to see them until now. The show exceeded my greatest expectations. The band played brilliantly, Jeff Lynne can still sing every song note-for-note, and the sound mix was unbelievably clear for a arena show.
