CAMEO IN CONCERT:

Funk and soul favorites Cameo have been bringing the heat to the dance floor since the mid-'70s, and they continue to treat fans to a serious groove-a-thon any time they perform their solid gold hits. Rubbery basslines, electro beats, and feel-good call-and-response vocals are the order of business whenever founding member Larry Blackmon and his talented band take the stage, and their party-worthy live shows never fail to transport fans back to the golden age of funk. Ticket buyers can cut a rug to "Word Up," shake a tail feather to "Attack Me With Your Love," or sink their teeth into "Candy" – no matter the track, Cameo delivers the goods with saucy swagger and infectious energy to spare. Fans looking to take a funky walk down memory lane can count on Cameo to lead the way at their booty-shaking shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer Larry Blackmon started Cameo in 1974 amid New York City's fertile funk, soul, and disco scene. The 10-piece group began as the New York City Players (a nod to fellow funksters the Ohio Players), but later changed their name to avoid confusion with the other group. Cameo was a hit right out of the gates – their 1977 debut album Cardiac Arrest cracked the R&B Top 20, spawning club favorites like "Rigor Mortis" and "Funk Funk." The band racked up a string of hits in the late '70s and early '80s, but the height of their success came with 1986's Word Up!, a Platinum-selling smash that topped the charts with its iconic title track and the equally funky "Candy." Cameo remained a fixture on the R&B charts well into the '90s, and in 2001 they once again reached No. 1 when they teamed up with Mariah Carey for "Loverboy," which sampled heavily from their 1986 hit "Candy."  Founding member Larry Blackmon and classic-era member Tomi Jenkins took the band to Sin City in 2016 for a residency at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, and their red-hot performances on the Strip proved they haven't missed a beat.

    False advertisement

The lead singer of cameo was not there. The money should be responded back for false advertisement.

    Not worth the cost

by Lady L on 10/10/23Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - Mableton

This was one of the worst concerts ever attended. Too much screaming, extremely loud music and then Cameo performance was shorter than anyone else. Not to mention they didn’t sing Word Up. Very disappointing!

    Cameo was horrible

by RWL on 10/10/23Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - Mableton

I was very disappointed with this show. We love going to the Mableton Amphitheatre for shows. The Legends of Funk seemed unorganized. The headline...Cameo was rushed off the stage without singing one of their biggest hits...WORD UP!

    Great Ol’Skool Concert

by Princess Tee on 10/10/23Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - Mableton

The sound was good. I was glad they started on time because of the weather. But the sounds from ALL artists was great to keep me warm from dancing and singing those old school favorites!

The entertainers all did a good job! The DJ kept the music going in between performers. There were some sound issues during the last performance but overall was a good show.

    Cameo 😟

by Showme on 12/9/22Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land - Sugar Land

They had alot of music sound problems. Technical issues. Nothing to smile about. Songs were not sung in the right manner. People were leaving after 2 songs like a fire was about to take place. Nothing was impressive about this show. Sorry to say but it was terrible.
